One day we will look back at this documentary and marvel at how little we knew about technology, and how quaint and simple life seemed back in ‘24.
This feels just like the 90's all over again. There were documentaries like this (maybe even a NOVA) that were exploring the depths of what was and could be possible with this new thing called the internet. Now here we are at the precipice of the next big leap. Its crazy how fast it all progressed.
Love how there's no commercials just like it is on PBS
"Boosts to productivity" But we don't have a productivity problem we have a distribution problem and a greed problem
It's good to ask questions and think of issues that will affect us in the future
Miles O Brien! Great as always. I have been following him for the past 20+ years even when he worked at CNN. His enthusiasm for science and technology is so contagious
Good show. Can’t wait for part 2. I had a hysterectomy in 2018 and the surgeon used the Davinci robot to remove my cancerous fibroid and the whole female system. Trouble was that the tumor was the size of a little lemon and she used small laparoscopic incisions for the robot blades and tools. Consequently she seeded me. Since then I have been through multiple chemos and radiation treatments for 7 abdominal wall tumors. If A.I. was involved no doubt it would’ve recommended a large straight abdominal incision and I would’ve been cancer free today. I’m 69. I currently have no lymph node or organ involvement nor new tumors but the cures are making me very sick and full of pain. Thank God my medical teams are dedicated and competent. 🤒
NOVA AND FRONTLINE ARE GREAT PROGRAMS. 👍🏻🇺🇲
Thanks Nova. Always been a big time fan of Nova ❤
Thanks NOVA. There is a lot for us to think about with this new technology. I have a better appreciation for those who were afraid to turn on the new light that hanging down in the middle of the living room from the ceiling after electricity was first invented.
It’s 2024 and AI is already impacting the creative industry. I’m not just talking about illustration, which I’m feeling, but all creative jobs, from photography, interior design, voice over artists, music is starting up, video, web design, editors, early stage product design. I’ve worked in agencies where we (the Agency) have not used an architect to help create concept images for a pitch presentation because time was tight, and a few thousand could be saved. Same with conceptual photos, ala Adobe Firefly. This is no joke. People are being made redundant now, not later maybe, as clients save a few bucks.
A very well made and informative documentary. Kudos to NOVA for bringing AI awareness to the masses. I've always admired Mustafa Suleyman for his accomplishments and willingness to help others through technology.
Thanks Miles and all the NOVA crew and creators.
We’re already productive enough to give workers a 20hr workweek and a universal basic income. The USA was almost the first country to have a 30hr workweek WAY back in 1933 with that era’s level of technology. Our tech today is way more productive. We don’t have a problem with production. We have a problem with distribution.
Mr. O’Brian’s personal perspective adds favorable value and understanding to me. Relating the AI picture to the question, “What can it do for humans, personally?”, is something with which I can begin to see and understand. Thank you, Sir. …from an old vet., retired in the US foothills of the East Tennessee Smokies.
Thank you nova for being yourselves
A good video about the A.I Revolution we are now living and how this is making many social, cultural and global changes. World will never be the same.
To: Miles O'Brien. Thank you for sharing your experience with the artificial arm. You made this real.
AI is like an uninvited, fascinating, but dangerous party guest.
