As a millennial, I think I've only ever heard millennials used as an insult.
I miss the early Internet. It was a Lawless yet Magical place
We used call these people hipsters. Hipsters crossed all generations. I resent that this is now defined as millennial culture. But I do like that they're now cringe AF and it can finally die.
Worrying about being cool is like a self fulfilling prophecy.
No generation was ever cool, only some specific people were
If you cared about being cool. You never were cool.
I'm an elder Millennial raised by hyper-conservative boomers, and I feel like that has given me the mindset of a Gen X person. I can't stand most Millennials, and honestly, I have always pushed against my peers when it came to ideas on culture and politics. I'm so happy Gen Z is pushing back against the BS my generation stood for.
"I USED TO BE 'IT', BUT THEN THEY CHANGED WHAT 'IT' WAS. NOW, WHAT'S 'IT' IS WEIRD AND SCARY TO ME. IT WILL HAPPEN TO YOU!!!" - Abe Simpson
Another example of "woman hits wall, writes article complaining"
Millennial here. I remember the wokeism coming in as my peers came of age. It was insufferable.
It’s because there are two factions of millennials. The one who wrote this and the rest of us.
When were they cool and i say this as a Millennial myself
When bands that were big during highschool are playing in casinos you know you are getting old.
‘We were out having sex’ …. ‘I was playing warhammer’
40 years old concerned about being cool is very cringe.
“Cool” has a shelf life. Anything can be cool if it comes along at the right time and doesn’t overstay its welcome.
As a millennial, i appreciate that you differentiate the California millennials from the rest of us. I've never even had avocado toast. I realized my generation was cringe in 2016 when millennials were mobilized en masse to move left, and i stayed in place.
You cannot cease being cool when you never cool to begin with.
im 22, never heard the word "cheugy" a single time until now
