As an artist, the interesting thing about what artists are currently freaking out about has been freaked out about dozens of times in the past, expensive oils in to synthetic pigments, in to photos, in to acrylics, in to digital art and so on. Use the tools there is, If you want to make a living Push yourself harder to become better, if you are good enough there is ALWAYS a market for artists making things 3d Printing and 3d software did not replace traditional sculptors. Up your game, Don't settle for just being "oki" And above all else don't do it for the money do it for the love of art like people have done for thousands of years as people before you have, Don't just stand on the shoulders of giants, become the giants.

personally i find the idea that to create something you have to invest hundreds of hours learning a craft, or pay another artist hundreds of dollars to be a little elitist. the big downside of AI art is that you will never get EXACTLY what you want. as a human artist, you can compose something that is an exact image of what you have in your mind, whereas with AI you get generic complexity. its incredible, sure, but it'll never match exactly what you had in your head. If anything, i think AI art can be a great inspiration to human artists.

how in the heck can a human being compete against tera-scale ( and beyond ) deep machine learning artificial neural networks

To think that if you are a artist you would know how to Atleast describe what you would draw and see if impressed you.... and even so a artist should have passion.
