@BrandonButch

Do you prefer the Air or the Pro these days?

@approved_workman

If the Air had 120hz it would be the absolute perfect laptop for most people. I get most don’t care about that but it would be nice for sure.

@sajahanvincerio2097

Base Pro is my Fav. Coming from M2 Air. The extra jump in SSD, speaker quality and screen quality is worth every penny. Higher nits and extra battery is a beast. M4 Air is worth the purchase if you are tight with budget and like the lightness of it. Those who came from Air to Pro. You know what i am saying.

@mr.mike678

If I didn’t work as a Software Engineer and used my laptop for work, I would definitely go for a MacBook Air. The base model is now 16GB, and the 512GB storage option is a great deal for the money. However, I need all the power because I’m running containers, virtual machines, databases, LLMs, and I’ve also started playing games on my MacBook (there are a few big titles available on the App Store). So, I decided to go with the M4 Pro MacBook Pro instead. But for a regular user who uses a laptop to browse the internet and watch movies on Netflix, the MacBook Air is more than enough.

@IQverymuch

if you get the pro, you get double the storage, WAY better display, louder and bassier speakers, slightly larger display, 6 hours more battery life, and a fan to cool it all down. I think that if you can spend the extra money, get the pro unless you want ur laptop to be slightly less heavy and thinner.

@kingshukbiswas2723

Using the MacBook Pro M4 for last 6 months, and I must say- it’s worth every penny. The display, performance, battery life- all are top notch for my regular use case. Also, having SD card slot and HDMI port built in is quality of life improvement.
But at the same time, I must say, if you’re an absolute casual user who just need a Laptop for presentation, word or xcel- then definitely MacBook Air is the best bang for buck machine that Apple has ever made!

@StillLearn

I just picked one up for $837. I had it in my cart on Amazon while I debated buying it. My girlfriend talked me into it and the price went down from $850 to $837 between the debate and buying it.

Bought it with a big ah smile on my face

@_isaacvaughan

Honestly for me I’d choose the Pro just for the ports!

@mlhollday

I upgraded to the M4 Air from a 2017 Pro 2 weeks ago. I was debating on the M4 Air or an older version Pro for a discounted price, like the M2 or M3 Pro. I had to admit to myself that, with my work load, I really don't need a Pro. I am loving the M4 Air! I'm very happy with my decision.

@ttongkangaji

I'm a lifetime Windows user considering getting my first Mac. My peak workflow involves 3 open browsers with say 100 tabs open, Youtube running, and several PDF files open, Obsidian open as well. My current Windows laptop is 8+ years old! Considering the AI workflow in the next few years, I don't want to be stuck with lower RAM. I am thinking of a 15 inch Air, but struggling to decide between a 16GB vs a 24GB upgrade. A 24GB makes it similar to a base Mac Pro pricewise. I am leaning towards the Air though. Any comment will be helpful!

@walterdbrown

My current plan is getting a Macbook Air with the 512gb that includes the 10-core CPU/GPU. Then later on invest on a Mac Mini with the M4 Pro chip to be my power machine. I won’t do much on it, but if I ever do, I prefer to not regret my purchase by getting the higher Cores and the better performing chip.

@BestPleb

After weeks of research, I was set on the Air but when I went to the Apple store and saw that black cover, I made the last minute change to the Pro 😂

@Emrahsuna

I actually have both. i use my MacBook air m4 way more than the pro version. The MacBook air is light, fast and basically runs everything the pro does. But I also love my MacBook pro because it has all the ports I need.

My Macbook air M4 never gets hot, even running FCP for hours, I haven't noticed any heat distribution.

@andrewcocho2467

I have a Macbook pro 2017 and jumped on the Air 2024 15”. I really wanted a more portability option and the M4 chip really is fast. I don’t regret on buying it…oh and saved money

@PeterEmery

In Australia the price difference between the M4 15-in MacBook Air with 512GB storage and 16GB memory and the M4 14-in MacBook Pro with the same processor, storage and memory is only A$100, approximately US$65. The Pro weighs 40 grams more and is 4mm thicker than the Air. If you specify 512GB of storage with the base model MacBook Air, you are automatically upgraded from the 8-core processor to the 10-core version.
With such a price difference, if I were in the market for a new Apple laptop (I am not, my 15-in M3 MacBook Air is fine for my needs) then I'd get the base model 14-in Pro.

@dougshipley5547

I bought the M4 MacBook Air with 24gb & 512g - It did slow up a bit when it was challenged and became hot, but I added the Arctic Tt-3 1.5mm Thermal pad and a $35 Lappy Stand that has a fan in it. Once it had the thermal pad the heat problem basically disappeared, especially with the fan. Be advised that once the thermal pad is on it the back WILL GET HOT if the system is challenged, but that actually works for me having a big metal TV tray to act as a heat sink. Yeah - I got the sky-blue as well.

@GeneralBulldog54

Just bought a 15’ M4 Air this year replacing my ‘09 17’ MBP. It’s been night and day and so far I’m loving it. That said, the lack of connection ports is troubling.

@chad9971

Just upgraded to the M4 Macbook Air from a 2017 Macbook Pro...much needed upgrade. It's perfect for school and casual use (I have a built PC for serious work). Goal is to have this one as well for around 10 years.

@aleemrahaman-rb9mf

If you get the 15 inch M4 MacBook Air with the 512Gb memory with 16 GB of RAM compared to the base MacBook Pro and get a student discount the price difference is about $120.00. Keep in mind the pro has 512GB SSD memory and 16GB RAM standard and everything else is just a bonus. Better screen, better speakers and processor. Better battery 🔋 life for just price difference of $120.00. Man what should I buy?

@AyaWetts

Love my Macbook Air. I thought about getting a pro just for the better screen, but didn't... The screen in the Air is great really... I even sit it by my Vivobook that has a 120hz OLED screen and its still 99% as good for most use.. maybe 95% when watching movies.... not enough to care about.
