Ahhh the nostalgia of a time when people could afford to quit their job.
Yeah… it’s easy to say. But the job market is rough right now. I left a job a couple of years ago and it took me 18 months to find another one. And that wasn’t the first time that happened. I was laid off about 9 years ago and it took me YEARS to find a job. It sucks that you’re not treated well. But it’s better than starving or being homeless. Don’t quit until you have something else lined up. You can’t eat your dignity.
Knowing that you need to quit your job doesn't mean you are in a position to actually do it
There was one job I had. My body got up on its own and left the building. A coworker asked, "Are you going for break?" Me, "No, I can't take it anymore. I'm leaving". Her, "Like? Coming back tomorrow?" Me, "No, this is me, this is me leaving the building. You will never see me again. I am leaving. I quit." And, no kidding, it's like my body had a mind of its own, and walked out.
My ex-boss wouldn't let me rest and constantly overworked me. I should've done it earlier, but I'm glad I'm out of that hellhole for the sake of my physical and mental health.
I retired when I was 60. That was 8 years ago. Here are the reasons I pulled the lever: 1) I was getting really cranky easily. 2) I did not have the patience to keep jumping through corporate hoops. 3) I daydreamed about leaving work 24/7. The benefits: 1) I'm loving life being retired every single day. 2) My doctor took me off half of my medications the first year. 3) I'm grateful that I planned financially for retirement and knew when to pass the baton.
In today's job market.... being unhappy is not enough to quit anymore. This is advice from 2015.
I just quit today.💪🏼
Gut feeling is real. I have left about 5 jobs based on powerful gut feeling and usually agonized over it for months before leaving. I have yet to regret or be worse off mentally, physically, or even financially for leaving. In fact, I would have been better off had I left soon after that gut feeling arises. If there is a financial hit its generally because a new job is far less stressful and the difference is more like 10% less money for 75% less stress. Prepare before leaving, but don't feel guilty about it. The job, you, or your environment may have changed since you started. You don't owe anyone anything. Once you leave you will see how you didn't matter that much. You matter to YOU (and maybe your family).
That was 9 years ago, wjen economy is flourishing, job is abundance. Now 2025, you better keep your job as there is a silent recession, increasing unemployment, chaotic economy.
It popped up now when I am on notice period. All of the above. Resigning now without any plans
This fell into my lap and answered my question. Thank you! My body is screaming at me.
There is nothing called job satisfaction
I feel hopelessly trapped in a job i absolutely hate. I've tried for years to get something else but nothing ever works out. I can't quit because I have a family to support. This job is absolutely destroying my mental health and drains me of all my joy. I honestly don't know what to do anymore 😞
I’ve quit my job 3 years ago and it was the best decision I’ve ever made. I’m living my best life right now and enjoying the most simple yet amazing things ❤
If you’ve ever driven your car to work without the radio on, it’s time to quit
So, you’re saying that 90% of people need to quit their job. That tracks.
I can assure you that this is ohh so correct. Enough of protected, unfit, disgraceful behaviour from management that not only disrespect you, bait and take you, to literally consistently lie to justify their position and existence in a company that could be ohh so good.
Doing 60 hour weeks and getting paid for 38 hours. And then when you put in your 1 month notice, the boss wants you to stay until they get someone. BYE.
