@haoquanliang2817

I miss the upgradable laptop socket design

@WolfgangsChannel

Sidenote: all benchmarks were performed with CPUs undervolted to -70mV on CPU and GPU. WIth i7-4980hq I additionally increased power limit to 55W long term and 75W short term

@jacekjagosz

A liquid metal tip: you should NEVER apply liquid metal directly to the die! It might squirt out of the syringe, and to all over other components. You should apply it to a cotton bud/swab, and then to the component.
Many people killed their computers doing it incorrectly.
This method was endorsed by Buildzoid (overclocker) among other people.

@f4micom

I love your channel dude! I follow it since you were dabbling around with x220/x230 and you also inspired to get me one, which served me as a great work machine for a good year

Keep up the great work ^^

@bhume7535

This is the kind of shit that makes me love PCs so much. I got a engineering sample 6700 and it was so fun getting that working and overclocking it.

@aikusan1727

I bought it too. it works so well but it runs freaking hot with the stock cooling on T440p

@Calmfries

Perhaps the CPU height (with the adapter) affects the mounting pressure of the cooler, or somehow prevents it from mounting properly. And in that sense, the mx4 could have filled up the gap better than the liquid metal, surpassing the performance of liquid metal. Just what I thought in mind.

@uss_04

Haswell is love. Haswell is Life

@besnikrrustemi

You beauty of this CPU is that you can get DRM support on macOS as it has the same ID(s) of the original macbook pro iGPU(s).

Extra bonus, you can install the fan with heatsink from a model with Nvidia GPU, it will cool your Intel only T440P much better thanks to the extra pipe not being used since no GPU.

@osark2487

the liquid metal compound requires 2 applications about a week or so appart, if the laptop has daily use. The higher temps of the first week will chemically fuse the compound to the surfaces it is applied, and a gap will be created, between the cpu and the thermal plate. But both surfaces are now in prime condition for the heat transfer that will happen when the second application is done and this gap is filled with more liquid metal.

@melaju9580

Imagine cpu i7 4980HQ apply in T540p with big body & more greater cooling than T440p. And also, don't forget T540p also have expresscard slot, so if CPU i7 4980HQ + eGPU expresscard, how much raw power it ?

@pedrolopez3830

i love this channel, keep the good work. Saludos desde Chile.

@MegaCyklops

T430 till death and beyond. - :)

@AggressiveMenace

My favorite non-classic (or not-so classic) Thinkpad, perfect one for Coreboot and docking it.

@leogeeko

Thanks for this! Maybe when one day someone develops a custom made heat-piping for the T440p with a better cooler things like these can work it our better.

@mtotheatothedoubled

I got T440p because of you.
Thanks, I am now addicted to old thinkpads.

@Minitomate

So basically applying too much liquid metal will afect negatively the thermal performance. That's a very great tip of how to use this compound the right way (and very difficult too).

@JosueRamirezBarraza

I have a t440p and I support this channel. Ps i have installed mac os and i went back to Linux mint. Still worth a try.

@josephl3602

Nice video.
I'll never try that, but I'm glad you did and posted the results.

@ambrosia7924

Love the glass canon cpu plan, modded cpu, tdp excesses and liquid metal.
