You should never write gate paper. I'm in IIT Bhubaneswar their is no internship allowed here. You have to give biometrics twice a day. There is no vacation and you only gate 12 casual leaves entire year. Course curriculum is very hectic you don't have time to practice coding. Everyone says you have to manage time. In IIT bbs you will learn one skill that is how to ride a bicycle entire day. I just request you when you want to do something just know all the things before going there I won't recommend anyone to give gate only for they are not getting jobs so they can save there gap year. Just code and make yourself different from other in starting you get less package but you can grow by the time. Here faculty suggesting us to do PhD if you won't get any placement. You will think that other iit's are good but I can give example that I personally experienced.
