Yes it was very good College ,if you're from another private college and when you got pass to enter ,you feel bad about yourself about not making to iit . That was iit . And IIT Madras was life ,there is life in iit .it's called College Life .wherever you don't get that from any college .except big big private college and it's not upto that . Many people outside will earn equal or more than IITs ,but they don't have chance to enjoy the college like IITians . The main important thing in life was college life . And it will only be there in NITs and IITs
