@armisteadab

The 2021 resume just being his name and 'JavaScript' kills me.

@alohotranks

Worst part of this is the fact that both are the same company just 4 years apart ๐Ÿ’€

@ITR

Companies use AI to decide who gets the job, so the job-seekers use AI to get the job, so the employers use AI to detect who is using AI, so making these AIs ends up becoming an industry providing exactly 0 value.

you know, it's really nice seeing some lucky devs branching out to other fields like youtube skits so that they can make a more livable income

"Be happy you're not a gamedev". Too real ๐Ÿ˜ญ

@potatoModel

Worked as a SDET for 5 years at a company, got laid off. Saw position for SDET for a consulting company, applied, got hired, was placed working at my old company as a consultant doing the same job.

โ€œOur AI model isโ€ฆ running on a PRAYERโ€.
Sadly this is very true for a lot of firms Iโ€™ve worked alongside recently

@jimbarino2

Good news, guys! I was laid off from the job I got in 2021 and after only 6 months, I got an offer at 40k less than I was making!

@parker_radford

Applied to 400 jobs and have gotten a total of 20 responses back! All rejections obviously, but sure it's progress

@ValiantValium

Yes, I got my CS degree. Yes, I am looking into becoming something productive, like a bus driver.

@Babbili

"let me read the job offer first then i get back to you" i really said that in 2021 with the same level of confidence ๐Ÿ˜ข those days

@thunderchild4816

When I interviewed for my current job back in 2016 I'm told there were 16 others the recruiter presented and none of them actually knew much about software development. I was also the only one who used SQL.

I had an interview recently and the technical went wonderfully, but then they decided they didn't want to hire anyone. I'm not sure what lesson to take from that.

@masterprogrammer8332

At my first job in 2011, I was hired in a few days after my application. I did not have a chair yet on my first day, or a computer, only a desk. It was on the way with priority mail, and my second day was spent assembling my chair and computer. On the first month, I had 2 holidays. I paraglide and when the weather was looking good in the morning, I phoned in that I'll go paragliding. HR just laughed when I called in the morning, they knew what was going to happen. I was allowed to do this, because they knew it's very easy for me to jump into any job. Looking back, those were crazy times :D Also the best period of my life.

@DavidJohnsonFromSeattle

This was over a decade ago. I was still in college applying to Google. I was told to take off my tie as it might intimidate my interviewer...

@madmartigan1634

Worst one for me: Intuit invited ~50 people to an 8-hour event of round-robbin style interviews, games, activities, campus tour, and orientation, all to compete for 1 job position. I'm still annoyed when I think about it and opted to write my own tax software instead of using theirs out of spite.
