It’s amazing how fast the job market went from “No one wants to work” to “there are no jobs”. My neck hurts from the whiplash.
That second girl....her first mistake was thinking any company actually cares about their employees.
The greatest lie ever told is that your company cares about you. I assure you they don't.
I started plumbing at 16 in high school. I used to despise it in my youth. I’m 39 now and could go almost anywhere in the country and make good wages. Glad my dad made me stick with it.
Young people… stay off social media. When a company does a back ground check, and they find nothing. They search and search. Once they find you are not posting stuff three times a day, you will go to the top of the… to be hired list. You can talk to your friends and vent. You can text your friends and vent. But stop venting to the whole world.
You can lose your job at any minute. No job is secure. Pay off debt and save as much money as possible. Don't spend too much money. I learned that the hard way.
I cried the first time I lost a job then I continued to look for another one and did many odd jobs to hold me over. Keep trying don’t give up!
Trucker here I love it. I show up to work. I don’t have to talk to anyone. Throw an audiobook and just drive. It’s nice.
I’m a financial advisor and many of my new clients are looking for help after being laid off. Many people with decades of experience have been out of work for 6 months to a year or more. It’s really sad. The job market is worse than they say. Many of these corporations are posting openings to mimic growth, but they don’t intend to hire anyone. Scary times.
The way that employers are fixing that problem of the job being a "necessary evil" is by multiple rounds of interviews. It is taking longer and longer for people to get hired. The employer wants people who WANT to work for the company. So I guess you would have a very difficult time finding a job today.
I got laid off recently. I saw it coming. Work had slowed down. Luckily before I got laid off, I focused on paying off my debt. Saved some money and have significantly lowered my expenses. Good luck everyone.
Never post on social media in any way while at work such easy advice
I worked some crappy jobs in IT. Made good money, but IT is considered an expense usually. Got laid off 3 times in my life. After the first layoff, I learned that I needed to live without bills. So that's what we did. Never moved up to bigger house. Shopped Goodwill stores. My parents lived through the Great Depression. My dad never owned a new car. Always a used Buick. They never owed money, and were able to buy a house. Social media drives people to spend money. Don't do it. Save your money when making it for a rainy day.
All the more reason that you shouldn't be buying ANYTHING from an influencer, tik tok or celebrity!! You DO NOT need more clothing, more make-up, or more skincare! 🙄
My hospital just had layoffs, something they hadn’t had to do in decades. Everybody is bracing for what’s to come, even “essential” businesses like hospitals, and if they aren’t, it’s because they’re feeling empowered by the threat AI provides to the workforce. Right now, it’s a skill to recognize signs of trouble. I’ve managed to skip two layoffs in the past seven years simply because I saw the writing on the wall and moved positions/careers. Everybody needs to cut back, pay down debt, and have an emergency funds available. It’s going to be brutal across the board. The rich are feeling powerful. They want to throw their weight around.
If I get fired, I’m good for a year or two. Emergency fund is an absolute necessity these days.
This job market is bad. In two months it's going to get even worse as tens of thousands of college grads hit the market.
I bought a used car and paid cash three years ago. Not having a car payment has allowed me to pay off other debt. If I should lose my job it would be a lot easier to weather the storm, and I'd be able to get by with a lower paying job. People really need to pay off debt and live beneath their means. You never know what can happen.
I work in IT and in 2020 Google cut our team off. Then joined another support company (best company I've worked for), then it was bought by an Indian venture capitalist organization, they promised for months our jobs were safe and proceeded to lay off half of the company right before Christmas. They realized their mistake and re-hired some people, but still. Every single new hire after that was Indian, whether qualified or not. All of these vacant spots are just offshored to India, South America, etc. The greed of these companies is despicable. They post record profits, but that's just not enough. They don't even care about quality anymore if they can save a dollar. One day this will backfire and they will deserve everything that's coming to them.
