Thanks for the video Rob. I installed this immediately. Even though Gnome's default notes application works pretty good the android sync feature of Simplenote made me switch.
Cool video! I really like your Linux Apps reviews. Cheers!
nice app ... undoubtedly best cross platform open source note taking app.
Hey bro, This is just what I was looking for. I keep trying different ones to be able to sync between my pc and android. Thank you sir
I AM using cherytree, with overgrive to sync with de cloud.
Thanks for the tip! :-)
Great piece of information. I want a review of cherrytree by my favorite youtube linux channel, please.
I use Google Keep, it sync very seamlessly.
Very nice, I'm definitely going to check this out, I use Cherrytree on Linux and Colornote on Android, however having notes on different apps is a pain, simple note seems to cover all bases. Does simple note save as one file only? Really enjoying the Linux tools series thanks!!
Great channel, where have I been?
I think in SImpleNote you can't save pictures, can you? A bit unfortunate because I do need to save figures in my notes. I'd like to mention another alternative: leanote, which was developed by a Chinese team and was designated to be an Evernote alternative. It's open source on Github (they do keep some functionalities though like mind mapping), runs on Win, Mac, Linux and IOS, currently not on Android. It still has some issues but definitely good deal of potential: the support of markdown formatting, document navigation, code highlighting and Vim and Emas input modes. You could also deploy your own service and sync across your devices, and make a personal blog out of your notes. As I said, still many issues like sync problems, the lack of search highlighting etc, but quite promising. So I'd like to give a shout so more people could get to know and hopefully more collective efforts go into it.
I recommend WizNote for you
Wow, I really like that gui. Seems promising: linux, android and windows.. I also didn't like the recent changes on evernote. Is there a way to import notes from evernote or do I have to do it manually? I also have some doubts, because sharing notes via link is a great feature and simple note seems not to have it. Still, interesting piece of software. Must check it out to see if it can replace evernote or not.
Great, I will move to simplenote, evernote is too slow and you only can sign in 2 devices. Thank you again LQ
Hi, Rob.. Thanks for yet another excellent review! I agree with you on Evernote; I have been using it for almost three years, but the change in their business model has made it somewhat complicated, and SimpleNote seems like a great, and much simpler alternative. I will test it, and possibly switch to it. If you would allow me to add my two cents: (1) I checked SimpleNote blog, and looks like there is a text markup option, which is explained in this link (https://simplenote.com/blog/), and (2) Perhaps one of the best features that makes SimpleNote so elegant on Linux is the fact that it was developed using the "Electron" development framework (http://electron.atom.io/). With Electron, one can develop a full desktop application using the NodeJS+HTML+JavaScript web development stack. The resulting application is basically a Chromium web application, contained within a native system window. This is one of the reasons why the application would look and behave the same on Linux, Windows, and Mac OS. Thanks again, and have a great day.
