I dont care what anyone says, kyle is a G for responding to Giga Break not with a shield or a bigger weapon, but with an equally awesome giga lantern drill.
Reasons why Kyle would win; He's that guy Reasons why Simon would win; He's that guy
Fun nerdy tidbit for those watching. At 18:28 Simon drills Kyle through a giant wall in space. This is known as the "Source Wall" in DC, which is the absolute boundary of the DC universe in its entirety (meaning if its part of DC comics, its not beyond this wall). It separates the DC reality from the 'Source', aka the creator of everything in DC, aka the Presence (the DC version of the One Above All), aka the Comic Book Writers. In other words, Simon drilled through the barrier separating the comic book world from OUR world, which is a cool easter egg / nod to the Radio Drama feat, where an alt version of Simon wrote a story and THAT Simon jumped out of the writing and became REAL. So yeah. Mad props to Death Battle for this fight. It was really good.
17:52 Idk why, but seeing Kyle manifest a giant form of Superman, the greatest hero he knows, just made me cheer.
Fun Fact: Kyle Rayner is canonically a HUGE fan of Gurren Laggan.
NO TRUE FAN OF SIMON THE DIGGER EVER SPEAKS ILL OF KYLE RAYNER THE WHITE LANTERN! HERE'S TO TWO GOATS!
The Nuance that the main reason Kyle lost is because he really isn’t the main being in his multiverse is really cool. Even when it came to fighting TTGL, the biggest and strongest thing he could imagine was Clark with Diana’s battle prowess and arsenal. The Authors never allowed Kyle to fully become unlimited in the same way Simon (canonically) wrote/willed himself into being. Idk if this is what the death battle guys were going for, but it really spoke out to me. Even in the final battle phase when Simon admitted it was never the mechs that were a threat, it was himself. Kyle was sadly never written with that much confidence.
Simon drilling through the Source Wall might have been the coolest thing you guys have ever done on Death Battle.
This is the most wholesome death battle comment section ive ever seen
Other Death Battles: "Guy A shoulda won, dumbass! This is a robbery!" "No! Guy B deserved the win, idiot! Guy A doesn't stand a chance!" Simon vs Kyle: "Hell yeah." "Hell yeah."
Kyle: "Stop fighting, think about your fear of death, your love of your friends, your compassion for me, your hope for the future. Chose Life." Simon: "Those are the reasons I fight, and the reasons I will never stop."
Kyle's either dying to or killing someone he's a fan of. He loses no matter what
19:13 Kyle saw a very Big drill Understood the matter Smiled then created a very Big drill of his own This is peak
I love how both Simon and Kyle were just having fun in this fight, making this fight going from “nothing personal just business” to a friendly competition. You could feel the respect they both developed for eachother.
“The super 'weapon wasnt your mech” . .. “It was me”. . So 'much aura in those three words ..
Everything I ever wanted from this matchup happened.
The fact that we got a Death Battle so absurd that Dimensional Scaling became an actual focal point in a show that doesn’t use Dimensional Scaling should speak measures to how unbelievable, incomprehensible, and IMPOSSIBLE THE POWER OF THESE 2 COMBATANTS
Simon didn't just win. His drill broke through the infinite win streak of dc vs anime character death battles.
Two GOATs going at it. Nice. Honestly tho, I smiled like a child in a candy store when I saw Kyle materializing CLARK as his "mech" at 17:50. Something about seeing him go "Ok what'd stop this? I know-" and conjuring an image of what is, to him, the most unstoppable man in the multiverse is so cool.
