So you're telling me intel is begging its competitors to use their foundry while at the same time not using their foundry for their own chips? Truly an intel move.
If android removes sideloading, there's no reason for me to continue using android.
"Sideloading has been one of androids main selling points. Where as the iphones selling point is not getting bullied over the color green." Wow! Jessica nails it again!
Nobody likes being told what to do by rectangles
Android becoming iOS iOS becoming Android 2024 really is the year of the unexpected
Google restricts other apps from stealing your data through notifications, but Google themselves are going to continue stealing your data through notifications.
Intel: why is everyone relying on TSMC also Intel: our next processor is build on TSMC's node
The only reason I swapped to android is Apple not allowing side loading. And I use many open source apps+emulators, aren't on iOS
Almost gave me a heart attack. The side-loading block is from the app not the OS. So you can still freely install apps such as third party stores, and mods without a problem. Should Google ever release a side-loading block form the OS level... I'll get an iphone.
Third-party ROMs are about to blow up.
Intel asking the government to help them is the most intel thing ever.
"Android 15 has new restrictions on what permissions sideloaded apps can be easily granted. Sideloaded apps can no longer be easily granted permission to draw over the screen, obtain usage statistics, act as a device admin, and more. This is an expansion of the restricted settings feature introduced in Android 13, which can still be manually disabled on a per-app basis in Android 15." Some of you need to at least read the summary.
0:07 Some context: Google isn't forcing users to install with the playstore, Google is adding a feature for developers to use to enforce downloading through the playstore. Whether this is an enforced rule is COMPLETELY UP TO THE APP DEVLOPERS
Forget side loading permissions, I'd rather be able to restrict all permissions individually. Not just some permissions as a catagory
Days without criminal actions that rob users of their freedom by Google: 0
Reason #453 to strip Android OS away from Google.
The fact android locked down folders a couple years back did my head in!!
That LEGO car is awesome! But imagine going 40 mph in a car that could completely fall apart at the slightest collision. (And then the pit crew would be continuously stepping on little pieces while they rush to put you into an ambulance.) It would take some guts to drive that thing.
If android takes side loading I'm hacking it, I mean Google and my phone
