@josetheseeker

My 8 year old cousin, who I look after, came home from school with a letter about their protocol around ICE to assure parents and students they'd be safe and keep them from stressing out, so I talked to him about not needing to be scared or worried to leave that to the adults. He says to me, "I'm not scared. I'm annoyed. People voted for him even though they knew he was bad," and I've never felt more proud. Because how can a child, who only hears about news as a peripheral thing, have a better grasp of the concept of voting against your own interests, than people who have been alive longer than even I have?

@krystlegarth659

This is one of the biggest reasons I prefer to get input from Vaush--it's so easy for me to have a mental crash (I already have clinical depression) over this shit. He always has these little reminders and I deeply appreciate them

@the3rdconstant564

Anger is better than depression. I had to learn that the hard way. DON'T GIVE UP SO EASILY

@infinitecurlie

People forget that events like WW2 and the civil rights movement weren't that long ago.

People thought everything was gonna end, but they got through it then and we'll get through it now.

The panic is exactly what the other side wants.

@Fusseliko

It's like that line from Rush's Tom Sawyer.
"Always hopeful, yet discontent. He knows changes aren't permanent, but change is."

@channelofsindre

Hope is what every revolution is built on. Hope is what every piece of resitance or sabotage is built on. Hope is the most revolutionary act you can do, and the one thing they can never take from you

@AegixDrakan

I like what I heard from I think Jon Stewart recently. "The moral arc of the world does bend towards justice, but not on its own. WE need to bend it that way, because some people seem determined to bend it the OTHER way"

@ricklynmanchez5492

One of the phrases of MLK that I honestly don’t care for, is that the arc of history bends towards justice. As if justice were baked into the universe. I suppose a religious person would feel that is the case. But the arc is not bent on its own. WE have to be the ones to do the bending.

@AlyixaeRey

When it's 2 steps forward, one step back, it's important to focus on the progress

@katarvitz4850

"Only in death does duty end."

Those six words have become far more motivational than they were ever intended to be.

@Tabby3456

We must become FDR

@brandonlamana6588

Applaud your optimism. Wish I felt the same way.

@pierregrubb7323

Thank you. Having hope feels so hard these days but I’m glad you’re not losing it.

@richardPictures-i8q

Seen a bit of people saying they've lost hope. Knock it off. They want you despondent.

@zachjames6181

To those who can hear me, I say do not despair. The misery that is now upon us is but the passing of greed the bitterness of men who fear the way of human progress. The hate of men will pass, and dictators die, and the power they took from the people will return to the people. And so long as men die, liberty will never perish -Charlie Chaplain, the great dictator.

@suserockle7332

He is absolutely right. It might not seem that that history is bending towards justice, but just because it gets worse right now doesn't change the fact that over time, everything is getting better.

@crypticscrutiny1153

You just don't hear this kind of positive but honest messaging from the Right. I look how unreasonable they are and consider myself lucky that I gradually fell out of it.

@Craxin01

If we don't fight to hold onto the progress we have, things absolutely will get worse, so let that disgust motivate you.

@holdommi7505

always keep fighting for a better world for all ❤

@beesmcgee4223

I think maybe we have to learn to hold contradictory ideas in our minds:
1) the world is full of suffering and chaos and oppression, always has been. It's a constant struggle
2) we must take action for what is right, and there is hope

Or rather, we make the hope. Because to give up is worse.
