5:15 quick side note: RNA is not "inherently" less stable than DNA. That's a very wide spread misconception that you hear in basically every video about this topic. It's true that RNA is far less stable in basic conditions (due to the 2'-OH group), that it degrades quickly if divalent (heavy) metal ions are present, and that RNases (enzymes that break down RNA) are basically omnipresent; RNA as a chemical molecule on the other hand is just as perfectly stable as DNA, as long as those three conditions (pH, metals, and RNases) are cared for. You can leave an acidic solution of metal-free and RNase-free RNA on a bench at ambient temperatures for years without any noticable degradation. Biology has simply evolved to quickly be able to degrade RNA, it's not an inherent property of the molecule.
"if only people would listen"... sigh.
I'm Italian and have IELTS C1 english level. I'm C2 in Reading and Listening. I could make this video's italian subtitles for my friends. How can I do it?
Thank you for the 11-minute lesson (including "Simplification Warnings")! Excellent.
I learned more in 10 minutes than like 100 hours of school. Great work man!
"Only if people listen"
Love how simple but detailed the videos are. Could you please make a video about geology, Mushrooms, evolution, and religion at some stage?
Great video. It would be good to also deal with medical treatments for viruses to show how these work separately from the immune system and why they are only feasible for some viruses.
Amazing video! Thank you so much! Keep doing these incredible videos!
A fantastic presentation. Such insights stimulate and inspire lots of ideas. Unfortunately, the vast majority of people will neither take the time to peruse it, or understand it. More please! And stay safe.
I THINK THIS IS THE MOST UNDERRATED VIDEO IN THE HISTORY OF YOUTUBE!
I felt your frustration with vaccines, I did one immunology course in a biology degree 30 years ago, the ignorance and nonsense being pedaled is super infuriating
Great video. More people should watch this video.
Please consider doing a similar video that focuses on the coronavirus! We are all so desperately in need of easy-to-understand, scientific information. Thank you for this!!!
Why is this so underrated?
Wicked! Love your videos mate! science is awesome lol
Very informative. Thanks for the making such a beautiful video and making it simple.
3:06 "The coronavirus that caused the 2020 pandemic." Don't you mean the pandemic of 2020-2026? 😅🙁
