I was born on 1996 and my father bought the Fiat uno in around 1999. The same white color we had and my father used to drive while i used to stand in the front seat watching how a car is driven . The man is no more in this world , this car just made me emotional .
2 teenagers in an empty house reading magazines. Oh, I'm sure they're just reading about cars. Totally believable. Great blast from the past though! Love this series!
Loved the comparison. I had a Fiat uno 1997 year FIRE 1.0 L carb in college from 2006 and then to my 1st job, my MBA, finally parting ways in 2011. Loved it for the practicality. Hated it for the spare part and service issues. But the design and packaging always got people enquiring about it. Thanks for the nostalgia.
"Born in 1976, I’ve been an avid reader of auto magazines just like you. In 1994, I bought my first car—the Maruti Zen MH 410—back when there were no variants. I drove it until 2007. My dad had a Tata Estate diesel, and one day he took my Zen to his office in Saki Naka. After that, he started driving the Zen, and I took over the Estate. Two years later, I got my MSFI license. Never got the chance to own an Uno, but I did have a Palio later. Your video brought back so many memories—really enjoyed it!"
My dad had a fiat uno 1999 - 2010, it was a power house, sturdy as a tank, one of the finest diesel engines ever, no power steering but awesome control & balance. I bought a punto in 2012 again a great diesel engine, still used by the swift by suzuki. Ranjan gaon maharashtra was where it began being assembled later on post 2000 I think, our car was fully assembled in Italy, it was unloaded off a ship & brought to Delhi. Awesome memories with the uno.
Nice nostalgia, I also had an Uno 1.2 AC 2001 Model. Lovely car to have. Now I am keen to see Episode 30!!:eyes-pink-heart-shape:
Sirish sir, wonderful video, brings back memories when Fiat was present in our country. I owned and drove a second hand Palio 1.2 petrol ELX and used it a lot before putting it to rest, had good memories with it. The Gone but not Forgotten series is a must for all automobile enthusiasts to remenecense the best cars which ruled indian roads way back then.
Excellent! I have taken a ride in one of my friends Uno in 1999 at Haldia, West Bengal. The memory has stayed with me. Thanks Evo India for the memories rekindling!
What a series! Absolutely loved it — brought back so much nostalgia.
I still have memories of a Uno overtaking our 2006 Santro Xing (still have it) on highway rides. As a child, used to marvel at the unique road presence that car had to offer with the sharp lines and classy looks. It looked more substantial that its actual size which is an engg feat in itself.
My father had a 1999 1.7 diesel uno…our first car…he loved it ….we used it till 2006
Ive had a fiat uno since 2015.Its a 1999 1.7D .Recently restored it.I got anothwr one recently. Its a 1.2 SPI petrol painted in a light pastel blue.Been a joy owning them over the years.Ive sent you pictures on Instagram.
Fiat Uno 1.7 trend wow that engine gem
@2:21 Fiat punto in the background... Another masterpiece by Fiat. Had a zen until 2011 and got a Punto after that. Every Punto owner would relate to this, that it wasn't just a car, it was an emotion which only few experienced. Truly worthy of its name "Grande Punto" Miss the zen as well as the Punto.
I'm a 2000-born, and my Dad owned a Fiat Uno from the same model year, bought just after I was born. It was a golden-colored car, and my dad cherished it so much. We owned it for 15 years, drove it for about 10 until we bought the Xylo, and then tried to restore it, even painting it in a weirdly good-looking orange colour with black bumpers. However, due to a diesel pump issue, it was left for dead. My dad had to give it away for scrap in the end. I remember as a kid I used to talk to my car, as if it were a brother. I drove it as a kid on my father's Lap, and then drove it around the compound on my own for my very first car drive at 15. And oh God, so many memories, long trips from Mumbai to Kerala nearly every year. When you started this series, my first thought was that you would bring out the Uno. This is my first ever comment on any YouTube video, and it was absolutely worth it. Thank you so much, Evo, for refreshing my memories.
Our first car was Fiat Palio 1.2 in 2002. Uno was still around. Got a chance to drive one after buying the Palio. Well Uno felt more immediate than the 1.2 Palio. But in rest of the departments the Palio was leagues ahead. Nonetheless, Fiat had some mystery around their cars. They probably were in a wrong market at the wrong time. I still miss the telepathic handling of the Palio which I enjoyed for over 14 years of ownership driving it with only one hand...as was the norm with most Palio drivers.....some cars.
Had both of them! Moved from the Zen to the 2nd release of the Uno with Diesel & AC & Power Steering!! in 1999! The diesel was quite frugal! Put about 1,40,000Kms on the odo & "upgraded" to the Palio Adventure!! & a "B" Zen!!
Now I'm eyeing for episode on Uno only. 1. 1lit petrol carb 2. 1.2 spfi 3. 1.7 diesel. Actually 1 lit came initially with single barrel weber carb. 99 model came with mikuni carb.
