I think the day 1 patch is due to the fact they shipped the units early in order to meet demand. There were rumors about Nintendo shipping units early to build up stock, and day 1 patch prevents it from leaking early.

It's a big FY to leakers and scalpers, and/or content creators that want (or need lol) that little edge over other content creators: getting all the views first. I love it dude. Sit down, be humble (and wait like the rest of us)

Remember when owning game systems meant you owned them? Receiving it early should not be a punishment for the consumer if they decide to use it early.

One of the biggest things I hate about new systems is that you need internet access. Not everyone has access to Internet

I like how RGT is making fun of this guy for not connecting the system and turning it on. If he had gotten his hands on a unit early (like he was asking for in a last video), he would be too scared to turn it on or post about it for fear of legal repercussions, or fear of bricking/getting banned. YouTubers like RGT will do anything for the views.

Maybe it’s just the launch versions that need that update. Nintendo could release later ones that are ready to play. Hopefully the case for those who care.
