@mattk6910

As a former ML engineer at NASA in a top US MS DataSci /Applied Stats program, THIS is an extremely valuable video. Thanks Dimitri

@BawsViking

I am not too familiar with the quant realm, but for more conventional CS positions skill stacking does indeed work. Especially for larger corporations when the technical team outsources the screening process to HR (!!). They don't really understand whats what, and they don't have the competence to question you further anyways. Every CS major is sending out A LOT of applications in this market and why your application got rejected / accepted is kind of a black box, so you just go with what works. You also get a lot of general advice from older students, and such the winning strategies propagate.

@Joseph-ms3iq

Dear Dimitri, thank you for making such a clear guide on how to make a great resume. I finally understand how to create a great resume, from the perspective of an intelligent employer instead of a career coach that follows the same template advice. Thank you a lot for the info.

@davidnovosardian6848

Hi Dimitri, I agree with a lot that you mentioned in this video. I think the reason why people slab C++ across their resumes while not including or having projects related to C++ is to just get their resume through the algorithm keyword resume sort without their resume getting lost behind. I could be wrong.

@JonathanWilliamOrtiz

I never thought about focusing each resume differently. Makes so much sense now.

@dogcard664

Dimitri, I think this is a great video but I think It would be better if you could show what an optimal resume looks like instead of just saying what could be better.
The first reason I'm asking is that if I were to trim my resume to what I "think" the job wants, my resume would be extremely short especially for a fresh graduate.
The second reason is that most job descriptions are so vague it makes it difficult to know what exactly to put in or take out of my resume.

Love your Vids! Please keep them coming!❤❤❤

@MaiCungMai

Great tips on tailoring resumes for quant finance roles. It's definitely a competitive field.

@TylerBobbyOrtiz

Solid advice here. I feel like a unique approach for each job application is key, especially in quant finance.

@CarterBabylung

I recently went through the job hunting process for model validation jobs. I would say make study sheets for technical interviews because a lot of the questions tend to get repeated.

@tinyleopard6741

Thanks, that's helpful. I'm not looking for a quant job since I'm more interested in the theory, but I'm seeing how I should apply my education myself, and that'll even help my students who're fine with math but don't want to live and die in academia (and need money).
I also appreciated your personality driving home your point, that bluntness, admirable.

@JorgeHernandez-ko5bb

Hi Dimirtri, Subscriber here.
My background is in physics/software. I am 37 and I am wondering whether its too late to pursue a career as a Quant?
Keep it up!

@meezylive1162

Love this video, provides genuine value as you're speaking on your honest experience and what you would like to see. I think the only caveat is that you may have a slightly niche or unique view on some aspects i.e. your focus on education over prestigious firms - judging by many people's experience, the reality is that these names are a prerequisite to the rest of the Resume even being considered let alone shortlisted for interview. But hey, different strokes for different folks.

@Zhansu-z7u

Hey Dimitiri, how do you make resume for people who are career switching say mid 30s/40s. Thank you.

@vamsikotte

which of these is more relevant to become a quant researcher-

1) Economics, Physics, Mathematics & Statistics , and Computer Science independently
or
2) Economics, Physics, Mathematics & Statistics combined with Computer science

@jasdeepsinghgrover2470

One of the best videos!! Thank you so much for the amazing video.

Your guidance has helped a lot in improving my resume and interviewing skills. Just waiting for an opportunity now. Hoping for the best!

@kingthame

Dimitri, you moved. Great on you buddy.

@jdgcreative

How reasonable do you think it is to enter the industry with only a bachelors and personal projects related to quant finance on your resume?

@existentialrap521

Hmm. Makes sense. I've been doing a lot of studies on model creation, but have fallen behind a bit on coding. I know how to code well in R and Python, but as you said, my other coding skills are a bit eh. I will maybe take a boot camp to get a good generalization, but will super focus on stats/math and model creation.

I'm a gangster. Never had an interview I've failed. YOLO. WE OUT HERE. MAKING MONEY. BREAD. MUCH LOVE.

@taylorl991

Hey Dimitri! Thanks a lot for this info! Would be great if you can make a video about some of the masters programs (and colleges) that you hire from for quant roles! It seems like such a wide ocean without much guidance online especially for international aspirants. God bless!
