The USA has done this before. 70% of the deported were USA born citizens. The elders talk about how heartbreaking it was to see their relatives walking through their original towns, calling the names of their loved ones, desperately looking for them. Some were never found and never heard from. This is a new Mexico. So appreciative of the Mexican president's commitment to assist the ppl who will be affected. Thank you, Mexico, for your support and humanity.

These workers were legally brought to the U.S. by Ford, US Steel, GM and others. My Dad worked for Inland Steel in East Chicago Indiana starting in the 1952 when Inland Steel was recruiting workers from Northern Mexico. He came legally through Laredo. Shortly thereafter my mom and siblings arrived from Monterrey. My mom was born in Minnesota in 1923 so her legal status was not an issue. My grandfather got seriously ill and the family had to return to Mexico. After my parents settled in, we attended a Catholic Church in East Chicago named Our Lady of Guadalupe. My Dad asked the priest who founded the church. The priest said Italians did. My Dad thought it was strange because there was not a single Italian in the church. Also, in 1950s America each ethnic group had its own church.

I’m grateful to the U.S. because it has given our family many blessings and the opportunity to advance. Our family has done very well and most of us have graduated from University. Most of my nephews and nieces also have college degrees and good jobs. Despite these blessings, the danger or threat of history repeating itself is more than evident.

White Americans whom I consider close friends have asked me why I feel like an outsider. It’s hard to explain my feelings to them. I’ve been blessed with good relationships and friends and have blended in easily. Education really helps. I’ll admit my family genetics have made it easier for me and my siblings because we’re mostly of Spanish genetics. My parents were loving people and strivers and they are my heroes. I’m proud of them and proud of my heritage. I’m in my 60s now and wonder what my family’s future will look like now that MAGA is in vogue.

@kichigan1

Arizona tried to do it. Houses fell of price in half. Malls were empty. Stores closed. Poverty and unemployment followed.

@elainegoad9777

Hold employers accountable for hiring illegal workers and paying less than minimum wage. No job, they won't come.

Adding to the spending while cutting taxes on the rich. Guess who will be paying for this in more ways than one?

@truegrit7697

Well, 70% of latino me and 40% of latino women voted for this. I'll just sit back and watch the show.

As a Leftist, I'm on the fence about deporting illegals. But as someone who is seeing things clearly, I know that it's not going to stop with just "illegals"...
