@MyRetroWatches

Thanks for the huge shout out Marshall. Appreciated as always and I am glad my conversation with you helped in this project.
If I can critique, placing the chrono running seconds hand should not be done this way, you have to leave off the auto works and support the jewel for the chrono wheel and the minute recording due the amount of force required to key the hands to the staffs. If unsupported it can actually push the jewel out and create end shake.
The service sheets actually tell you to have chrono in stop and to push and hold in reset to fit. There is a special movement holder required though as you need 3 hands otherwise!😂

I am so happy. I received this exact watch from my father who bought it when he was in Japan on his way back form the Vietnam war. I had someone local clean it up and get it running again as he wore it often. I wore it for a time but eventually put it in the safe as I didnt want to ruin it. I love this watch, its so robust and heavy. I always get people who ask me about it when wearing it. Thanks to you I now get to see its movement. Thank you for sharing.

@ProfessorFlasher

I'm absolutely not into watches. Never wore one never wanted one. But watching you disassemble these incredible engineering marvels is just mesmerizing

The Big Brother angle hits home for me. I was in the program as a Little. Unfortunately, my BB passed away about 15 years ago from Mad Cow disease, of all things. His wake was the first of 2 times in my life I've bawled my eyes out in public. The impact he and many other Bigs have on kids' lives is incredible and exponentially greater than the effort they put in.

@philrenshaw826

When i started work as an electrical apprentice in 1975, with my first wage packet i bought this very watch ( 20 weeks on the catalogue)
for £70.00. worn it every day for the first 20years, now wear it 2-3 times a week with my other watches. Only had it serviced 5 years ago and was still going strong. Great watch and loved watching you strip and rebuilt one.

@theseikologist

Thanks for the shoutout Marshall! Great job on the Pogue, nice work. Glad the video could help.

@Mitch-e2e

My Dad brought one of these home from a trip to Japan in the 1970s. I wore it every day until I had a spring bar failure running up a flight of stairs and it fell a good 50 feet down into a stairwell and broke into hundreds of pieces. I sadly gathered it up and put it into a plastic bag. It stayed with me in that bag for decades but at some point I lost track of it. Great to see one being so tenderly restored😊

Marshall, I want to congratulate you on reaching 1 Million Subscribers. Congratulations to you Sir as we go for 2 Million!😊😊. Great job and I love your content.

@philipsmith1990

I have an identical watch which my parents bought me for passing my professional exams. It is dated November 1971. I have worn and still wear it every day and I have had it regularly serviced. Now it needs servicing again but this has become difficult in the UK where I live. I have had a couple of quotes approaching £400 with probably a bit more if parts need replacing. This is probably about half of what the watch is worth. I have watched many of your videos and I hoped that by watching this one I might consider servicing my watch myself. I need to thank you for making it clear to me that I cannot do that!

@eviecollects5451

I know you all probably don’t care but I just bought my dream Tiffany and Co watch and this came out at the same time. Best day ever lol!

@Supercruze

Seiko restoration expert here. 6139A cal movement here which preceded the 6139B cal in the later versions of this watch. I applaud your efforts to get this watch back on the mend. Mike and Ashton are good dudes. I have jeweled arbor ports on dozens on these watches over the years. I never quite understand why folks want to push the jewel in from the far side of the plate. Just more chance of cracking the jewel. My preference is to push the jewel to level with the main plate surface from the train side.. Same with the barrel bridge. Once both jewels are installed, you need to check arbor vertical end shake up and down as you did, but under a microscope. Far too much up and down shake on the barrel arbor in your case here in my opinion. You can screw the barrel bridge down with the barrel installed hit it with some canned air to make sure it rotates freely in the jewels. Looks like you got a good result on the TG. Thanks for your insights and videos. Alway enjoyable to view. PS - If that black rotating bezel is original to this watch with the gold dial, it is referred to as an Aussie Pogue and highly collectible. Stelux Seiko bracelet is another highly desirable feature on this watch. Great result overall.

@TapscottJ

Fantastic, hope he gets many years of joy. Mentor/mentee relationships that span lifetimes are so special, so glad you can make this meaningful. Kudos!

@WavzonRox39

Man, guess I'm stuck in the 70's, love this watch!

@CoolerQ

When you installed the new minute recorder hand at 55:29 it looks like you actually installed it next to the post instead of on top of the post. I think that's why it wouldn't advance correctly.

@JimHauck929

I remember one of my early WR videos where you were working on an older watch and you commented that part of the fun of this hobby was imagining the "life" that the watches led and what they had been through. . . fast forward to this video where you reveal its actual life story of this watch and I realize that sometimes reality is so much better than my imagination. . . Thanks for sharing!

@maxwellbrand

48:58 that scratch you put on the day wheel was pretty rough, but luckily it was on the French option 😆

@Donorcyclist

The big brothers program has been beneficial for a lot of men. I was the beneficiary of a local version and have fond memories of my time with my older "Friend." Great programs for mentoring young men without fathers.

@gregorypogue

Amazing. I bought a Pogue that is in really good shape about 5 years ago. It will be a keepsake in the family as we are Pogues!

@cseivard

Great story! I am a stroke survivor, (lived!) I watch, because I own a Seiko7002, with a broken stem. As soon as I get my left hand working, ( it’s currently paralyzed, but improving,) I plan to fix it!

@Mr_Berlin_James

I ordered the Robur press adapters from Tim on eBay after seeing your video. They arrived today and I’ve used them already… FANTASTIC! A really superb idea that expands the versatility of an already great press. I’m really impressed with the quality of these, so, thank you for bringing them to attention.
