@BrandonButch

Do you prefer 13-inch or 15-inch for the MacBook Air?

@johnstjohn4705

Screen size was the main reason I traded my 13-inch in for a 15-inch. I was tired of working on spreadsheets on the smaller screen. The larger screen is even more satisfying than I thought it would be. I went from midnight to sky blue. Yes, it's subtle, but even when it looks like silver, it's the best silver I've seen.

@poochiepro

I got the 13-inch in midnight, and I'm loving it so far. It's also my first ever macbook

@TreeCuttersUS

This years upgrade is pretty impressive. The MacBook design and production teams are great!

@AllisonChainz

Just bought the M4 15” 16gb 256gb in sky blue. I went with the 15” for the 2 extra speakers, 2” screen size, and the 2 extra gpu cores. For $200, it is the better value. Setting it up as we speak 😊

@tumbleweed57

I just upgraded from a 13 inch Air2020 to the 13 inch M4 2T/24GB and love love it! There are a few differences in the 2 but the display clarity is the most noticeable. This is my 4th MacBookAir and only have gotten the smaller version because that’s just my preference. I highly recommend it. And I have the starlight color which is beautiful!

@BrandonButch

btw guys I have the flu, so videos will be rolling out slower than expected :( I can barely function

@LifeonFireforGod

I have the M3 Air 15” space gray with 16/512. I love the 15” Air. Honestly you cannot go wrong with the larger screen real estate.

@AdamDuffArt

I know that the general advice is to go with the M4 Macbook Pro if you're planning on upgrading to the 512/16 - but here's the thing...

I've been testing out the M4 MacBook Pro (base model) for about 3 weeks now (after really struggling to decide between the M4 MacBook Pro and the 15" M3 MacBook Air, going with the Pro at that point.)

At the time, the screen brightness was an irritation, despite everything else that I loved about the Air

I jumped to preorder the 15" M4 MacBook Air when they announced it because there were a few features I really missed, namely the far more comfortably typing experience, the larger screen with better scaling on the 15" - in my case, I opted for the 512GB SSD

Side-by-side in light and dark environments, I really can't see why the brightness bothered me so much at the time - they're both great.
Contrast-wise, unless you're watching the very small selection of specialized HDR content, they're visually extremely close

Although on my iPad Pro, proMotion is important to me (because I use it for artwork), on my MacBook, the refresh rate isn't at all an issue, they're both very smooth.

After pushing both systems running and rendering out identical 10bit 20 min 4K videos, double-luts applied, multi-layered MotionVFX effects - the Pro finished 13 seconds ahead of the Air.

Apart from that, scubbing the timeline was identical - zero dropped frames, snappy and responsive.

Thermally speaking, the temp on the Air was negligibly warm, really not much at all.

Battery-wise, they both dropped about 2-3% during the render

Speaker-wise, they're both great (although I use AirPods 99% of the time)

VERDICT
- for the same price, if you need more ports and very situationally brighter screen, go with the base M4 Pro
- if you prefer better typing, bigger screen, lighter weight - go with the M4 Air

In my case, the Air wins hands-down. The moment I closed my Pro and started working on the Air, I immediately preferred the experience.
I'm returning my Pro tomorrow :)

@vizo309

M4 air feels like a good year to upgrade from m1. I was going to get a m2 but the price drop and student discount for m4 sounds like great value. (My m1 screen is dead otherwise wouldn’t upgrade).

@1gogo76

I am going with MacBook Air m4 15 inch ... yes it is a little less practical in a coffee shop or on a train but for middle age people I would say bigger screen is better .. 13 inch seems too cramped when I am doing work outside my home office studio.

@alvannpham

went from m1 MBA 13 inch to m4 MBA 15 inch, love it

@alexanderfazel

$899 educational for the 13 inch MacBook Air M4! Although I recommend bumping to 512GB storage for some, which will automatically give you the 10 core GPU (which the 15” already has).

@WavyVhick

I got the sky blue 15". Absolutely love it!

@nickc90210

I have the MBP 16 M2 Pro and got the 15" MBA M4 for a more portable device and instantly regretted it. Exchanging it for a 13" MBA M4 because it is 100% for mobile use. At home I will use the MBP 16 M2 Pro. Speakers are not a big issue as you will use headphones anyways. As for color, I still love the Gold/Starlight. It just looks so good everywhere. The Sky Blue is nice but the color will not age well IMO.

@HearMeLearn

for some additional context the usb ports have not been improved, apple always gave the thunderbolt all the features when they include that port, the problem was that thunderbolt 3 has certain specs as optional, but thunderbolt 4 classification has one of the requirements to being able to output to two 4k displays at once with the screen. Meaning that until this generation where the m4 chip was finally powerful enough in the base model to do that, they couldn't actually call the ports thunderbolt 4 until they could do that.

so again no, there was no actual improvement in the usb c ports, the computers were just finally capable of doing something that was required for the port to be called thunderbolt 4 so now they can finally call it that. The ports could already do all of the stuff that they can now 'suddenly" do, other than that display issue.

@tracybuccola3878

News flash! Just picked up the midnight 13” M4 @ Apple Store on Amazon which is usually $30-$50 higher than the other 3 colors for $849 for all 4 colors so RUN FAST !

@sweealamak628

I bought the M4 Air Skyblue today. Brought it home and was in horror for its "blueness". The lighting at the store was so bright it washed out the colors making it appear silvery. But in my home which does not have overhead lights, but light beaming in sideways through windows, it gave the Macbook a strong blueish greenish tinge which is really off putting. I went back to the store to return it immediately. Looks like I have to settle for midnight.

@RW-Toiya

Got the 15 and it’s so bulky to use. Getting a 13 inch

@mden2490

Another spec you might want to point out is that the 15 inch base model comes with 10 core CPU/10 gpu GPU while the 13 inch comes with 10 core CPU/ 8 GPU.
