@MythologyFictionExplained

Mad lads on horses that look like they belong in a dark souls game, that was the intention and Markus the mad lad himself made it happen with his stunning art.

I'm homeschooling myself again at 41. Literally through YouTube Thanks for being part of my learning journey.
These videos are great. Calming and informative narrative. Thank you 😊

@RJ_Ehlert

The art here is so Metal.

@shadowrfox

This automatically get a liked because so often "Conquest" is regarded as pestilence.

@rondajones7526

My favorite depiction of them is still the version from the X-men. They have shown up multiple times over the years and the members get switched out depending on the storyline but Apocalypse is one of my favorite characters and the four horsemen are always cool and interesting to me. Also scary

@SayMyName383

I haven't heard the four horsemen described this way before. Wonderful. Thank you.

@Cofeeman911

Store up your food supplies before the third rider, as I'm pretty sure the second one is already here.

@Bazi-Tibull

Interesting how many differences there are between German and English versions.

In the German version (at least in the one I've read and which was also used in our schools in my country back in my day) the only rider that is named is War. In addition to that, it doesn't say that "Hades" followed the fourth rider, but "hell". I've always connected that passage to the Apocrypha, cause there it says that among all the fallen angels, there's only a single one who's not exiled to hell. His name was Abaddon and he's held captive in a dungeon in heaven, with the key to hell chained arround his neck. When the lamb sends out the fourth rider, Abaddon follows him with the key dragging him down to "the pit", where he has to unlock the gates of hell, so all the lost souls and his fellow fallen angels would be present for God's final judgement.

Also, I've always thought of the first rider as tyranny, as in "the first rider takes away mankind's freedom, the second one their peace, the third one their wealth and the last one their very lives", which are basically considered the pillars of prosperity. I think in the version I've read the first one didn't have a bow, but a scepter, which also seems to lay the focus more onto the "ruling" aspect of that rider rather than the bow, which was used by Hannibal to shoot an arrow into the city of Rome itself during his conquest in Italy.

I'm not trying to start an argument here, I'm an agnostic atheist myself and grew up with the folklore of my country rather than with Christian traditions, but as a sucker for all kinds of religions and mythologies I love discussing that kind of stuff in order to understand it properly. Please forgive me for that, if anyone feels offended right here. (;

@jablue4329

I first learned about these guys from reading the bible cover to cover, then through Darksiders (amazing franchise that I wish got finished), then Supernatural. There are a lot of references to Christian mythology in so many forms of media, and it's interesting to see how people react to them compared to the more common Greek and Roman references.

@lulumoon6942

Your animations combined with presentation never ceases to amaze me, really brings the material to life! Thank you. 👍

@shoresean1237

I like the Highlander-TV interpretation - that the Four were marauding early immortals whose rampages were so widespread and brutal that they burned into mytho-historical narratives and became the reason why these beings were spoken of in the first place.

@LonelyBean123

I HAVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS FOR WAY TOO LONG!!!

@thirteen8582

Im not a religeous person but the book of Revelations is one of my favorite books from the bible. Just imagining all the things listed in the book makes me want to watch them with my own eyes.

@sativational_2187

Crazy how we’re seeing a lot of this play out in our current world. Makes me fear if the end is closer than we thought

@blackeyedsusan727

Fascinating to note that the interpretations of the four horsemen in Judaism and Christianity are diametrically opposed. In so many aspects, the NT and Christianity take the opposite POV of Judaism for no apparent reason. And here is yet another one, which I did not know about. Thank you.

@gaiusmariuscaesar

In the old testament the four horseman are all mentioned in dark tones with the exception of the white horseman which means he is probably not a evil horseman, i think he will either be the second coming or he is a Christian conqueror that brings peace to the earth, the same peace that the second horseman breaks.

@saurabhjoshi8142

Dean Winchester : How old are you?
Death : Old as God... Maybe older. None of us can remember anymore.

Me: Goosebumps...😂

@CorneliusBogfrollupFitzgerald

When the first 4 of the 7 seals have been broken. 4 riders shall be summoned.

Your channel is the best. You describe your stories better than any history teacher.
