@David_USF

The Weather Channel isn't as good as your typical local meterologist where they are familiar with certain neighborhoods and weather conditions.

@no_woe

Our meterologist and lead anchor were the two featured in this story at News 10. They had worked at the station for over 70 years of combined experience. What the Allen Media Group has done to this station, which is one of only two in the market, is a complete hatchet job. The new format is TERRIBLE. Not to mention a disgrace to our community and public safety.

@DavidJ245

More proof of why you should never put in a two weeks notice.

@kialuvsyoo

I can't believe some people believe corporate greed doesn't exist.

@davidpippin3460

End result: Byron saves a few million a year, weather reporting accuracy drops substantially, generalized weather reporting will be the norm with ads all over the place, and the public will once again be left behind as losers. For example, how on earth can the weather channel accurately tell the story of how the weather will affect Friday night's high school football game in a small town in Nebraska? We all lose in this, except old Byron of course. Greed kills.

@Ghost-tw7xw

Judging the amount of ads on the weather channel itself, this doesn't suprise me at all.

@thinginthewoods1414

Byron Allen was a comedian. People's lives ain't no joke.

@LeopardGeckoFry

I wonder what the total salary amount for those 100 people getting fired is compared to what Byron Allen’s salary is.

@FadeintotheShadows

I hope their severance packages are high for the unexpected layoffs.

@DodlDecF

That's sad. People like to watch their local news and weather stations. I do.
The weather channel can't deliver what your local stations offer.

@carolineglaze8908

I used to work for WAAY 31 in Huntsville, AL. Allen Media can never duplicate local meteorologist.

@charliej766

And this is why the younger generation has started quitting without giving a two weeks notice. They’ve seen how your loyalty is rewarded.

2025 is off to a horrific start.

@DebbieVillalobos-nc2gp

I will not rely on the weather channel 👎 for my weather

@JahmBProducts

Billionaires ruining lives once again

@StannisBaratheonOTK

Local news is a tough business. Salaries are terrible in all but the largest markets. The meteorologists do their own forecasts, graphics, record spots for radio, do the station weather that we see on air, and work terrible hours.

@thegreatcornholio4349

Haven't watched the Weather Channel in years. I can get a better forecast looking out my window.

@CynicalSerperior

If you’re a billionaire, you can absolutely afford to pay those meteorologists’ wages. Firing them is straight up cruelty.

@serataylor772

Gee, I didn't know that Byron Allen was a billionaire media mogul. Nor did I know that he's a sociopath who uses his power to destroy people's lives.

@montana_patriot

The LOCAL weatherman is a part of the community. Byron Allen doesn't care about that. He completely ruined The Weather Channel. I watch WeatherNation now. Boycott Byron Allen Stations and watch those that care about their communities.

@jorad4887

Byron Allen was a poor kid then worked his way up to be a wealthy person and now he's crapping on the small people, remember this, what comes around goes around so watch your back
