everyone always paints marie to be horrible when she was such a kind soul :( it’s so refreshing to see her in a beautiful light like this
Marie Antoinette was a sheltered and privileged girl. She couldn’t understand the situation of the poor because she didn’t know that something like that could happen. She didn’t know starvation or poverty, so much so that they seemed impossible to her. She was a kind soul, so kind that her final recorded words were of her apologizing to her executioner for accidentally stepping on his foot. She was only seen as a villain because she was too privileged to understand enough about the lives of commoners to help them. Had she understood and known these conditions were possible, I think she would had done as much as she could to help. She was an angel with a halo whose light casted the shadows of horns, a true one in a million angel of her time who was never given a chance.
This painting is so easy to interpret after knowing that the painter girl was pregnant because this is a kind of emotion all the fellow non artists can also relate to. Wonderful painting put to thought. Mary Antoinette was a kind soul afterall.
Actually, the phrase “let them eat cake” wasn’t even real. Someone said it and say Marie said it. TBH, she’s such a kind soul
People say that Marie Antoinette was a horrible selfish woman, but really, this proves that she could be kind and forgiving P.S. i didnt think I would get this many likes tysm ❤️❤️❤️
She was a kind woman. She was married off at fourteen years old. None of the French Revolution was her fault, yet we’ve decided to demonize her and not the king, the one who actually had the power.
The way society villainizes Mari-Antoinette is one of my Roman empires. She never said, “let them eat cake,” and most people do not realize. Though she still wasn’t a great person, she wasn’t as bad as history makes her seem
Marie Antoinette was a scapegoat. “Let them eat cake” had been a French expression since she was 6. Her last words were an apology to the man who killed her for stepping on his foot. She will always and forever be one of my favorite historical figures.
She is example of being kind but recieving hate and pain in return
I do not remember the beautiful lady painter's name, but I know Marie had friends who were painters. Not only a painter, but a WOMAN WHO PAINTS. So this makes sense. She helps, knowing the painter is pregnant, likely at the age having experienced pregnancy herself, but also because she was her friend.
Society used to be especially patriarchal back then which is why she used to be painted as a villain, instead of the king. I'm so glad that at least people can acknowledge her kindness now...
tbh sometimes when a girls smiles to me I either don’t notice or sometime I look angry when I’m actually not and I feel so bad
I think this IS what they should be telling in history class not only what she did wrong but what she did right too
The painter painting the painter who's painting the queen
people should’ve been way more kind to her. truly, she wasn’t bad, she was just to sheltered… even her last words were sweet, her last words were said to be “Pardon me sir, I did not mean to do that.” because she’d stepped on the executioner’s foot.
Queen Antoinette is beautiful inside and out❤
Why is her story so tragic😭she was such a kind soul
Marie Antoinette was actually a really kind-hearted woman. As a child, she was merely a political pawn, thrust into a role she had no say in. No, she didn't "starve her people", the people were starving since Louis XIV, but everyone blamed her because she was a foreigner and mainly a WOMAN. People also ALWAYS forget about all the good things she did, such as all the charities and donations or that she adopted 5 orphan children and one of them a black slave which she freed and payed for his education(it was even against the royal protocol to adopt a slave). All the spendings she did lasted from age 18 to 22, i mean what did yall expect from an 18 year old girl?? Also, since she was never taught how to be a queen, she only did what was known to her and to spend was also expected of her from the royal court. Compared to other royals, the amount of money she wasted was the most small, it just seemed big because it was spent during France's economic crisis. "She was a bad ruler", she wasn't even a ruler, she was a queen CONSORT, she was simply the king's wife and her only role in the palace was to push out babies and party, it wasn't in her hands to feed the people, this was the king's job. All the accounts made for her, say that she was a really sweet and compassionate woman, who always treated everyone with kindness and love. The things they did to her and her poor babies when they were imprisoned, are WAY worse than the things she ever did in her lifetime.
She was actually really kind and was just a scape goat. Her last words were her apologizing to her executioner bc she stepped on his foot 😭
