Someone telling the truth in a world full of lies is a gem
I freaking love how honest and blunt you are bro
I'm a senior studying CS at a university, this is great advice for any grind! I went back after ten years since I dropped out of collage the first time. I learned in that time that the way to success (for myself at least) is doing the best thing for yourself every day. There are so many days where getting work done is the best for me, and so many that I'm glad I realized it was a touch grass day! I'm currently working as a part-time SW engineer and I'm grateful that our work culture encourages us to avoid burnout. I really believe this leads to healthy problem solving instincts. Grinding all the time leads to people taking a naive route to complex problems because they do not practice planning and tend to start coding first.
That's why I'm a fan of you, I love the way you make us, I mean your viewers understand that whatever we feel when learning to code "it's OK " I love you.
Very good and realistic advice. Same thing goes for fitness influencers telling people that they need to train 6 days a week at least. NOT TRUE at all. You can get by doing 3 days a week EASILY if you work hard enough during those 3 days.
As someone who has worked in this industry for the majority of my adult life, I will say that I have only met maybe like two people were like this. Most people are pretty rational and sound individuals
I have heard about software engineers coding and doing side projects in their spare time as being normal and it was concerning as someone pursuing a CS degree with plans to enter that field. I have a family and I value my time with them immensely and I know when I get old I don't want to regret not spending time with them and being present. This video helped bring clarification on the matter, thanks for making it.
I learned early in my journey that you have to take a break from coding and enjoy life. In my personal experience taking time off has made me better at coding. Great video thanks for sharing 🖤
Last line is a banger
great stuff - a new fan for sure!
Yup! M-F 9am-4pm .. days off are for personal time. Unfortunately alot devs I know have a hard time with this.
Your the best bro because that’s exactly what I tell myself and others as well
Thank you Dorian
This is applicable in every single field not just coding. Having a balanced life is healthy. When we die, we don't take our jobs, money and fame to the grave and we will regret not enjoying our lives and making beautiful memories.
It is though... collaborate on projects, have personal projects and be the best or amongst the best at writing code for your stack. A lot needs to be done, finding the right balance is difficult but being hard working is not bad.
Totally agree, thanks for sharing!
It's superlative true, in Italy people think that you have to work only and not have a life and you are paid like shit
I just comment I tried this approach at two places - I laid off and replaced by people who would. Toxic companies? Sure. Left me unemployed with recruiters passing me up because I was unemployed? Yes :/
I'd say it really is a lifestyle, but you still don't have to overwork yourself. But then again, it just can be hard not to. Even more so if you don't have anything else.
