I remember watching the 1st episode 9 months ago when it came out can’t believe time has went by so fast jeez
Your brother's story is so insanely successful that I wanna see pay stubs of 30k/month to fully believe it... but I will take it as truth. Without exaggeration that is probably top 100 jobs for a graduate worldwide. Maybe even top 50. I heard of one story of a new grad at citadel with multi-million salary who brought his professor along with him to help mentor him. People like these are massive exceptions to the rule, not the norm. Big ups.
I am in a similar boat but I don't see why you wouldn't earn $400k per year until you're like 25 and then make a start up company or something ?
Amazing - I watched episode one. I too am " obsessed" of quant - organising quant conferences. Doing tones of quant projects - publishing a paper in quant - had a qaunt internship. Now trying to get full time after finishing my MSc in financial mathematics. The reason I want to go into quant is actually for freedom. I aim to learn on the job in quant and start my own startup hedge fund down the line. I aim to use the money form the hedge fund to help the world. Imagine if you had so much money from your own trading algorithms - setting up side startups would be basically risk free. Like a Venture capitalist investing in things you believe in. I like solving interesting and challenging problems - while being innovative, I've always considered myself as a scientist, while also being able to be really creative. The financial markets really interests me. I don't want to work for anyone - but It is beneficial to build my network and knowledge. High respect for both of you.
Babe wake up, new Manazir brothers episode just dropped.
Great podcast to listen to (while working at my 9-5). I think the ultimate status is turning down a $600k job offer to be happy and not looking back
Peep the Citadel water bottle đź‘€
Tbh, I'm confused on your brother's reasoning, why not do the quant job for 1-2 years and then invest that money in his own business? You'll be putting in a lot of effort trying to start a business, good to have some savings. He's still very young at this age.
Bruh, I'm 22 from some c tier uni in Australia and with no internship experience. I'm over here trying to start startups (cause no internship) and making ai projects and some 21 year old is getting 600k offers. Kill me now, I should have studied more in highschool lol.
Huge respect 👏 "...the dog boasts to the wolf all the contraptions of comfort and luxury he has, almost prompting the wolf to enlist. Until the wolf asks the dog about his collar and is terrified when he understands its use. “Of all your meals, I want nothing.” He ran away and is still running." -- Skin in the Game by Nassim Taleb
I want to start off by saying your brother is extremely intelligent and could probably land another quant/SWE role any time he wants. But I don't think he should've factored in having his girlfriend he just started dating into leaving his job. If she leaves you, then what? I'm all for love and finding your person but unfortunately in this life many things aren't guaranteed and you should do everything in your power to protect yourself.
Thank you for posting this, very, very insightful.
Great pod, small piece of feedback, ensure your relative volume levels are equal. I can’t find an ideal volume to hear you both at optimal levels.
He should talk about how he is able to learn outside of attending lectures and excel so well.
Sick life update Aadil
Great video !
This is gold and I almost didn’t watch it
Great episode! Can you make an episode with your girlfriend talking about how you guys met, what she likes about you, dating, etc. ?
What does Aadil think about being a contracted quant ? Is there such a thing ? Would it make sense as a contractor ?
