I read a thing once that said "if your best friend says" let's go to the gym together" and the next day they don't show up, then they apologise and say "I'll 100% be there tomorrow" and again they don't show up, would you trust them again? Would you be their best friend again if they always cancel on you?

Yeah, that's what you do to yourself by procrastinating.

Overthinking the task is more stressful than the task itself. You burn yourself out by reminding yourself of how many tasks you have to do when in reality, the tasks might just take 10 minutes. A focused study session for 20 minutes is better than a distracted 2 hr study session.

The brain is your most powerful tool. It will believe everything you tell it. Do some research on confirmation bias.

Hope everyone manages their procrastination and are at peace with themselves ❤

I was diagnosed with depression last year and during my internship in my undergrad, I avoided going to college. It accentuates gradually, till I have zero motivation to go at all. My therapist told me about this at the time that my body was trying to protect me, but the task of not going to college she said would exacerbate my mind even more. This is so simply explained.
Anyone who is facing trouble doing normal functions, You got this.
One day at a time.
One thing at a time.

I have an enormous problem with procrastination. I was absent from school for two days and already have 6, 7 page packets to finish. I find it extremely difficult to lock in and finish one at a time like I want/need to. My coach for the school volleyball team is extremely strict about our grades, and they said if we don’t get ALL our missing work turned in by Tuesday (it’s Friday), we’ll be kicked off the team, and I can’t have that. But, thank you for this video, it really helped me understand this problem, reflect, and fix my problem. ❤❤❤

"This video really dives deep into the psychology behind procrastination. It’s eye-opening to realize that procrastination isn’t just about being lazy—it’s often linked to fear, perfectionism, or overwhelm. Understanding why we procrastinate is the first step in breaking the cycle. Such an insightful and relatable watch for anyone who struggles with putting things off, even when they know it’s making them feel worse!"

I'm procrastinating by watching this video

@fiolioco1523

why did I almost tear up at the end? I've always felt guilty for procrastinating and I think hearing the reason why people do this, despite knowing the consequences, its very comforting.

@trollingisasport

Hit the nail on the head about anxiety. Once I figured out that connection, I came up with a mind hack that keeps me from procrastinating. I mentally let go so that there's no anxiety and fall into action, just focusing on keeping my mind clear and letting my body complete the task.

Embrace your procrastination! ❤ As a lifelong procrastinator I have learned that it is a wonderful skill that enables me to firstly do a quick reco of the topic - what do I need; how long will it take; any unfamiliar items etc. Then I park the entire topic, not worrying one iota, until my subconscious says, usually 2-3 weeks, until deadline, Go ! And I do - with a rush of energy I know exactly what to do in the most expeditious manner as thoroughly thought through. Mission always accomplished. The End. Procrastination is not wrong - it is simply a different + more time effective way of using your time + energy. Learn.

@Fiasco5121

@colinkrause5119

I’ve been watching Ted Ed for years now and have never commented. However, this video has helped me so much in understanding my procrastination that I just wanted to try to thank the creators of this video. You’ve helped me in so many ways, even thought it’s just a video, thank you.

@annabanana4978

I am procrastinating while watching this video but just feeling such a sense of release as I am not lazy and it all explained everything I feel so well. Just want my parents to understand I don't want to be a procrastinator.

@ТулегеноваГаухар-ъ2х

This video so useful. Cause many people procrastinate due to internet (instagram, telegram, tik tok). And it means that instead of hour you spend 3-4 hour to do smth, and unfortunately it’s not good job. I deeply understand why we do so, cause our brain is accustomed to comfort, and he decides that any new tasks are a new non-comfort zone and negative emotions.
By the way, I also want to share some tips about how we can do not procrastinate.
The first thing you have to is turn off your internet while you study
The second one is write your real goals
The third one is go to gym, cause activity helps you mentally and physically.
Amd last one, please love yourself, be kind to yourself, and praise yourself for every little goal.
Keep calm and keep going.

@mrowl5816

My procrastination appeared in childhood.
When I sat down to do homework, read books or do something else, my parents immediately called me. RIGHT NOW!!!!! Because of this, as soon as I did the task that my parents assigned me, I thought "now they will call me again." And they called me.
I also have a younger sister. My parents often left her with me and it took a lot of time.
That's why, in my opinion, I got used to postponing everything for later.

@solitarysolus9434

Thanks so much! I needed this. You caught me when you mentioned we procrastinate due to the high standards set by us. The quote by Bill Watterson is so relatable at this point. I'm gonna get to work!

@jiyoung8340

the fact that i even procastinated on watching this full video and watched shorts equivalent to the same time:

@abbybrooks1348

thanks, this helped me a lot. I was wondering why I wasn't able to study and get stuff done the way I had been before. It's because the last test I took, I didn't get a good enough grade as I wanted, so I started to beat myself up about it. I was telling myself I couldn't do it, but this video helped me realize that the reason I am hitting a wall is because I am so caught up in my own perfectionism I am limiting my own abilities. Next time I will do better.

@ruwi4635

That Ursa from Dota 2 ultimate skill sound at 2:10 caught me off guard

@manynamedchangeling

This video is so surprisingly compassionate towards procrastinators. Thank you.

@dratuang2962

procrastinating by watching a video about procrastinating

@ejames7710

This was actually super helpful hearing that self-compassion works better than self-flagellation for getting out of a procrastination spiral. Appreciate it.
