I remember when this boxed set first came out and how underwhelming it felt. That and how I really did not like the paint scheme for these Hive Fleet Behemoth Tyranids. That garish red with blue/green armor plates just look a bit unimaginative. (Not dismissing the skill of the painter here, but the choice in colour scheme) I think the Codex Tyranids for 3rd edition had a front cover that featured tyranids from Behemoth. They would've looked a lot better if paintd to resemble that picture.
2:57 gave me a massive nostalgia wave, now assault on black reach is a kit I'd definitely pick up! That was my in to w40k, I still have a couple of the models left over but I lost most of them. Would love to get this box again, and not for the unbelievable price that it goes for on ebay! £200-300!
Also, the 10th edition starter set, which retails for 65 pounds on the same website as Battle for Macragge, comes with a much more impressive, and modern selection of space marines and tyranids. And it comes with the rules and dice.
About a year before this was rereleased I bought it NEW for over $50 what GW is asking. I mainly wanted the terrain. This was the Starter Set when I first got into 40K. I used to think, wow $90 was too much.
it pains me to say it because I do really want gw to do more of these made to order sets, but yeh at this price point with this set of minis its just not worth it
Understandable
It was a complete miss for me. It should have been reimagined as a kill team box just 5 new gene stealers, 10 new gants and ten intercessor. Call it a battle simulation used for training or history repeating itself on a lost colony
The terrain is vaguely appealing, and the imperial pilot, but the rest? No, not worth it.
