In my personal experience, the command position does not work if your desk setup contains a big wide monitor or there are many devices connected, cables, etc. The best is to bring those cables and big pieces that are over your desk, against a wall, otherwise the first thing that you will see as soon as you open the door y a big wide monitor and some cables, even if they are organized, itโ€™s like seeing the backstage of a theater.

How to design light for your bathroom and kitchen?

@zakiali8518

Question / Issue with office and the "exposed back" concept. In today's world, most people work on a computer. Some / many if not most, are using multiple screens or a single large screen. The Large screen sitting on a desk in the center of the room is obstructive and looks terrible. Thoughts?

@Truthseeker2841

Idk why I felt weird with having my back to the door. Switching my desk that way though I had more room made me slightly uncomfortable. This makes sense!

@chrish6001

If the door to your office is opposite to the window, you can put your desk on the wall perpendicular to the window wherevyou can stll see rhe door out of your peripheral vision. The short endvof your desk willl be near or against the wall so you have access to power for your devices. You could also put another piece if furniture against the wall and put your desk touching that so you could then face the door. Some of us might be too distracted if we could see out the window from our desk. ๐Ÿ˜‰

I'm very curious as to how to set ones desk in the command position when you work on a desktop. Even on laptop, I'd want a monitor and... that means cables running from the middle of the room to a power outlet.

Eww

@akirahojo2

I canโ€™t do this either, my home office is a narrow rectangle: 3.6m x 2m (length x width). My stand up deskโ€™s width is 1.8m with tons of computer gears (2 wide monitors + cables). The window and door are at the opposite end. The command position doesnโ€™t work - do you hv any advise?

@ttree4636

Very true!

@lavayuki

I have an L shaped desk against the wall in a corner, with the window behind me. The command position does not work in my room, as I don't like the window light shining on my, and also my L shaped desk just needs a corner. It is to the side of the door so it is a partial view

@JensMuellerCorbach

where can I find this screen you showed at 2:26 in the video on the right side?

@maksymilian-zajac

cant do this, my room is long and narrow, door is opposite site to the window :)

@radientproductions9799

mind blown. Time to move my desk so it faces the door :)

@BrianMarcWhittaker

I love this advice. Iโ€™ll add that for color grading, one does need darkness, with 6500K daylight behind the monitor or above the keyboard/control surface.
