Guys stop asking if people are still listening to this because we NEVER stopped.
This is by far, the best version of Manhattan. Pure Gold.
Better than the studio version. Credit to the bass player and drummer. They compliment Johnson's performance perfectly.
the most underrated bassist of entire G3 universe. He killing it, the best Manhattan version ever.
His guitar leads are cleaner than my house.....what a perfectionist.....
this is the tender surrender of eric johnson
I remember being into Satriani, Malmsteen and Vai as a teen. Then I watched this G3 performance with Eric and it changed me. Now As a nearly 40 year old, with a music degree in jazz and a full-time music teaching job, it's a bit harder to knock my socks off. But this guy and this particular performance continues to melt my face every time I hear it, without fail. The most unique lead sound on a strat I've ever heard. Not to mention the most considered melodies. The more you learn, the more you can appreciate Eric.
1:08 The most beautiful pentatonic lick in history
That slap on the bass makes this song even better, simply the best version of this song
this is top level guitar playing.
I first heard this age 15 now 35, it still gets me every time, he's a genius, nobody else sounds like him.
Most of us guitar players can only dream of ever achieving such a level of performance.
the quality of the recording, the fat bass sound, creamy guitar, crispy drums.....this is one of the best live recordings I've ever heard in my life
Eric Johnson rides a near perfect balance in his playing... he’ll shred your face off... and be downright polite in doing so. EJ forever!
Killer guitar work by Eric and Roscoe is just CRUISIN' on the bass. Magnificent!
I know Eric is the focus here ...but man ...those bass lines are just amazing!!!
The speed of Johnsons soloing along with the accuracy, timing, tone, he’s just flawless
Players like Eric are rare. He and guys like Robben Ford play in a way that is very deliberate and calculated while also managing not to micromanage the natural flow out of the riffs. I’m not sure if that makes sense but that’s the best way I can put it. Played beautifully and squeaky clean without sounding sterile.
I'm a guitarist. I'm so surprised that there aren't more comments praising the rhythm section. We all know Eric is a genius. But that rhythm section is so locked in and serving the music perfectly
