I love how Peter's videos are getting shorter and shorter. I think we're about 6 weeks away from a 4 second video that's simply "We're all fucked."

@ponchupeechu

This season of the Apprentice is the worst so far.

@Pho-KingSoupTonechasr

It's like tearing your house down without having a plan on where you're going to live while you build a new one.

@Christophe-Manga

I remember when zeihan was like 'no matter who the president was they couldn't jeopardize the US because the geography was so good' seems like challenge has been accepted 😂

@jackdawg4579

Best part of these delayed videos in the current climate is sitting here thinking "Past Peter thinks that's bad!, he hasn't seen anything yet"

@sadenaike12

Talk of incompetence he actually said film subsidies is a national security issue.His approach lacks nuance—other countries offer better subsidies than the U.S., so the response is to impose tariffs. A U.S.-owned and produced film set in London or Paris? Tariff it. Films shot both domestically and abroad? Tariff them, too. Special effects and post-production? Yes, tariff those as well.
But what happens when other nations retaliate with tariffs on American films? What about when China outright bans Hollywood movies? The industry has historically relied on Chinese box office earnings, with blockbusters making billions there:
"Avengers: Endgame" – ¥4.25 billion (approx. $630 million).
"The Fate of the Furious" – ¥2.67 billion (approx. $400 million).
"Avatar" – ¥1.71 billion (approx. $250 million).
"Aquaman" – ¥2.01 billion (approx. $300 million).
This decision is so shortsighted it might end up a case study in colleges on how poor policy choices can damage an entire industry.

@Losira69

Zeihan must not be getting many consultant gigs lately from the U.S. government 😂

@tstorm3706

It's like watching someone play a Sim for the first time and they are always responding inefectually to a crisis because THEY DON'T HAVE A CLUE WHAT THEY ARE DOING!

@jimprier326

The Jones Act is the major impediment to the US building a merchant marine fleet

@vgernyc

“Yeah, yeah, yeah. But what about Phase 2?”
“You see, Phase 3 is Profit. Get it?”

@Withnail1969

I don't understand how America is supposed to function with basically nothing to buy.

@Alex-pr6zv

American leadership today feels like a throwback to old European dynasties - ruled by mad, inbred kings - where chaos was the norm and everyone simply just got on with it.

@Enoch33

Thump also says he is going to bring back Alkatraz (closed in 1963) no joke! I think trump watched the movie The Rock with Sean Connery last weekend.

@vikingspud

"Everything is just going to cost more for everyone."
So much winning.

@opusdei51

While I feel for the many people suffering from this mess, I also enjoy the schadenfreude how the greatest conman in the history of the world has surrounded himself with conmen and they're self sabotaging every move they make.

Hopefully the American people will learn their lesson before they turn into Russia 2.0.

@thehum1000

100% tariffs on foreign films, and re opening Alcatraz, todays news from amurica 😂

@Filpy-hk7di

At some point the level of harm can no longer be attributed to incompetence, but rather deliberate sabotage.

@christopherjared1277

No... South Korea has ship building facilities and skills. And they have a consumer economy that could, if they chose, import things from North America that we have a comparative advantage in producing.

@dalewhite4759

34 year brick and mortar business owner here 63.. no kids and can’t believe what this system has overall done to the American economy.

@lpdirv

Looking forward to Sal’s take on “what’s going on with Shipping”.
