Man. I’m in high school rn and will most likely finish college by 2030. I want to pursue Software engineering but idk if I’ll be able to get a job by then cuz the job market rn is already pretty bad, by the next 6 years Ai would’ve evolved so much that only the strong software engineers will remain most likely working together with Ai. I suppose I need to learn extra things and advance more than the average person my age right now who also wants to become a SWE so I’ll be able to get hired much more easily.

Left out Amazon! I was paid 165k my first year at Amazon. I was promoted after a year and a half, my second year I got paid 250k (310k after appreciation). This year, haven’t gotten my refresher yet but I’m guessing I’m gonna get paid less (260-270k). I found it strange that the salaries at Meta + others increased after a few years even without promotion. Generally at these places, the salaries will drop due to stock increase eating into granted RSUs. The Meta increase was the most suspicious one to me. Could you shed some light into why the Meta salary shot up so much despite not getting promoted the last year? Insight would be appreciated!

I didn't know that entry level software developers were paid so much at those high tech companies, and were given stock outright, when I worked in high tech for Intel, IBM, Cisco Systems, LSI Logic , Mirapoint and FlowWise Networks as a Server Systems and Storage administrator we only got stock options.

Its amazing the different that salary is in big tech company in EEUU and my country, Spain, just for you to know, in my country at a big company the start salary that u usually get is 16k- 18k a year, only in rent you get half of that salary off or even more, and sharing room with others. I am studying Software engineering and my goal is moving to EEUU for obviously reasons ($$$), nice video ;D
