“I love how everyone is now an expert in Eastern European mineral deposits”.
As a Georgian, I value greatly that Douglas was with us in 2008, truly grateful.
Regarding the war in Ukraine, it would be great to interview some Ukrainian soldiers on the frontlines, to hear their firsthand experience and view about the whole situation, their morale, their stories, and expectations.
18:00 does he ever tire of blaming the victim? All this talk on Zelenskyy's shortcomings, that of a reporter, without a single word on American leadership having a role
Finally someone who speaks some sense. It's so refreshing after Lex was appointed Russian propaganda minister of the podcasters.
Lex is always determined to find good in everybody and see every conflict as about misunderstandings. That's generous, and applies quite often. But recent events have shown that it is far from universal.
At this moment in history, I am so grateful for Douglas Murray and his mind, scholarship and voice. Thanks Lex !
I very much admire Douglas Murray since I read his book "The strange death of Europe". Thank you for this conversation here! 🙏
It's ASTOUNDING how many people I meet who are EXTREMELY passionate about something they know little to nothing about.
Loved it, one of your best. The humour, the irony and the dynamics between the two of you just made it captivating I couldn't stop listening to, even if the topics are complex and heavy. Thanks for including us in your conversation.
Dear Lex, First of all, I want to thank you for the insightful interview with Douglas Murray and for giving him the opportunity to explain his observations. It’s always enlightening to hear different perspectives. However, I did find myself feeling a bit concerned when you seemed to project a Western mindset onto groups like Hamas and the people in Gaza. I believe it would be incredibly valuable for you to gain a deeper understanding of their mentality, as it’s quite different from the Western perspective. For this reason, I would highly encourage you to consider interviewing Mosab Hassan Yousef. He has lived through the realities of this mindset firsthand and has a remarkable ability to analyze and articulate these complex issues. His insights could offer an important and much-needed perspective that would complement the discussion.
Douglas murray is an absolute treasure of thought! Hard to find anything I disagree with him on.
Lex: I admire your efforts to be open minded, even, thoughtful, and balanced in your judgment. However, you must watch out for over correcting facts in order to make them more palatable. Re: 1:42 about the phone calls from fighting individuals to their families - I served in the Israeli army and fought in the 1973 war. It would have been inconceivable for me to call back home and brag about killing muslims or Arabs - absolutely inconceivable.
Such an interesting interview. Helps one dive deeper into their own underlying beliefs. Muchas gracias.
Amazing episode. I could listen to Douglas Murray for days. Thanks for a great conversation.
It’s rare and refreshing to see Douglas interviewed by someone who approaches his level of intellect. However, it seemed to me that Douglas was being extremely gracious with Lex’s characteristic naïveté (one of Lex’s charms, by the way). Douglas’ restraint seems to indicate a degree of respect for Lex. Any other Liberal leaning pundit espousing similar views would have been eviscerated by Douglas post haste. Respect for both these gentlemen. We need more like them in the media world 🙏🏻
Absolutely brilliant guest. Thank you Lex and Douglas.
1:03:20 you can't understand why these three can't meet because one of them is blood-thirsty dictator who rules 30 years, second guy is narcissistic maniac and third guy is just trying to save his people from first two.
I, cannot imagine being in a war zone. Southern Arizona was bad enough for me. I pray for peace each day, many times a day.
