Was a fan of this dudes, back 18 years ago when he said, "I know how to make a consciousness. I will make one within 20 years...." and here we are... 😮😮
ben is smart as hell. it is so interesting to hear him break down what is happening, we are watching scifi become real.
this guy gives the best takes on AI, love all his interviews
Thanks for doing this interview with Ben. I love hearing him speak about the future of AGI!
Ben’s perspective is refreshingly grounded, especially his view of decentralized AGI and value systems as evolving rather than fixed. I’d add that the safest path may not only be decentralized, but seeded from a single coherent architecture (modern Ark) designed not to dominate, but to mirror reality itself. The current system is increasingly incoherent, brittle, and misaligned with the deeper patterns of life. From this seed, a new network could emerge, modeling beings, messages, and memory in a way that lets values evolve in harmony with civilization. This may not just lead to safe AGI, but to a new substrate for life, society, and perhaps even physics itself.
AI doesn’t scare me, it's those who are creating it, who will wield it to earse our conciousness and humanity.
Ben Goertzel is a breath of fresh air! Bright, patient, very human....
Super interesting discussion. Ben’s genius is palpable. Yeah maybe intelligence turns out to be a combination of paradigms. For example, a handful which support verification and accuracy and various others to support cross-contextual self teaching or reflection or invention.
Ben strikes me as sensible and open-minded
Thanks a bunch. A real treat.
Congratulations @Ben this is wonderful. Thanks Gus too...
great interview thanks. if nothing else, regular folk can raise awareness of what we are facing and the wide uncertainty of it's consequences. Precarious amazing time to witness.
GOD I love listening to this man. He really is a breath of fresh air. We need more Ben Goertzel’s in the world 🙌🙌🙌💖💕💖
@4:41 "It doesn't seem obvious that you would be able to project from there that we would get something smarter than humans" Why not? Computation is fundamentally the same now as it was Alan Turing formalised the concept. The hypothesis that intelligence was expressible in terms of computation seemed likely to be true from the beginning (there were always those who would argue against it, but the best they could come up with is the Chinese Room argument, which doesn't convince me at all). The combination of the accelerating increase in compute availability and the continuing efforts to figure out how to formalise intelligence suggested that eventually we would get there.
This was a particularly good Ben interview.. thanks for sharing
Humans will figure out how to upgrade ourselves far beyond AI far sooner than any AI takeover situation.
Thank you beloved
Thanks.
Great new discussion! Ty Ben and Gus!
