@applesthehero

I think the free student plans are incredibly predatory actually - now it's easier than ever for a student to have spent all their timing learning their art on software they'll be paying for for the rest of their life

@alexmikhylov

Pablo Picasso said “Good artists copy; great artists steal their creative software.”

@hbomberguy

This video is really, really good, and I'm SO MAD because my next video is about this exact thing.

It's so exciting that people are really talking about how to deal with the modern tech landscape before it kills us. A million Autodesk users are gonna watch this and go 'I thought it was just me.'

@WannabeCanadianDev

Super Eyepatch Wolf sends his regards and praises. Also the whole Flash segment is super charming.

@SnoozyYaLoozy

Y'know this is why I'm on the side of "Piracy is not theft" if creative software licenses keep perpetually being unobtainable for most artists.

@cathalogrady2331

man I feel privileged being a developer, where basically all the defacto software is not just free, but open source licensed. I can't imagine how it feels to pay that much money just to practice your skills.

@Katy133

Autodesk's "Flex Pricing" plan sounds utterly diabolical. 💀

@bophi_true

The ending of your video reminds me about what Huey asked his granddad,

"What do you do when you can't do nothing, but there's nothing you can do?"

And his grandad responds,

"You do what you can."

@pieseu2048

that's certainly one way of making something for your portfolio

@Runergy

sometimes you come across an actual captivating video on this platform and you get that feeling again.
somebody cooked and it turned out delicious

@spiichkii

my grandma was an architect and made plans for thousands of buildings. after she retired she tried showing me all her project files but her autocad kept showing that stupid skullfuck of a paywall. this video made me feel seen. ty.

@artemisthecatfish5142

Your video was the final push I needed to sit down and actually learn Blender against my teacher's wishes

@theminecraft4202

yo ho yo ho, a pirate's life for me ...

@NourArt02

Flow winning the Oscar gave me hope that there is a place for open source software in this industry, Blender has come a long way, and with our help it might overcome 3DS and Maya

@albertogregory9678

Also the characterization of “business wife” is spot on. They don’t care, none of the suits actually care about anything except making money for themselves, which usually means making money for the company. The cruelty is not out of evil or sadism, its because they have a nice dinner reservation that night. Places to be, people to hurt.

@zakmorgan9320

Im shocked at how well researched this video is. And the fact you updated wikipedia. This is an incredible video.

@GameUnionTV

Whoa, this escalated quickly! IMO: Blender is unbelievable and should be the first choice for any young artist these days. Also, a few days ago GIMP 3 has been released with non-destructive editing support. Which allows for many users to abandon Photoshop for casual usage.

@MorgueParfington

over an hour of 3D woes? in 3D? incroyable!

@SoreBrain

I didn't expect to feel emotional but I never realized that I stopped animating BECAUSE flash died. I never warmed up to a different program and changed hobbies. Macromedia flash 8 was so good 😭

@photomode_official

Found this video through Super Eyepatch Wolf like others. As a 90's kid who also learned 3DS Max because it was a requirement for my local college's "Animation Technology" degree, I connect with your experiences. I too got a non-animation job to make ends meet, and eventually swapped to Blender when I had nowhere else to turn. I initially did everything I could to customize the Blender UI to make it more similar to 3DS, but ended up just admitting that I needed to start over fresh and start learning again. It's been 10 years since I graduated, and I've never had a job in animation. I just do it in my spare time. Love your animations in this vid btw. Also the humor :)
