Between Observational Sketching and full-on Concept Art, the former is more of a study to comprehend shapes and perspectives? In my case, I can isolate an object from the rest of the background.

I am starting to see it as a way to flex Gesture Drawing (Lines, and figures, relying on perspectives and vanishing points, avoiding tangents, quick layouts).
