This never gets old. I laugh every time I watch it.
I love the commentary with the Hansons for this scene: "Clean hook. Clean slash, making a play for the puck. Clean goalie interference. Clean intent to injure. All very clean."
The look on Newman's face after the guy trips the goalie. Just aww!
One of the funniest sports movies ever. The Hanson brothers were pure gold!
love how he clocked the entire bench..... Classic!
Newman's reactions to the Hansons getting tossed out are priceless. π€£ Truly one of the greatest actors ever. He even said he had more fun making "Slap Shot" than any other film.
"Bring the kids. We have entertainment for the entire family!"Β
One of the greatest old time hockey movies around. Should never be forgotten. This a classic
The random slap shot to the organ player gets me every time lol
I gotta say again, when I first saw this movie in a theatre back in '77, I LAUGHED MY ASS OFF! This film is to hockey, that 'Caddyshack' is to golf!
Hockey was an exotic, foreign sport to us in Philadelphia in the early 70's, a very ethnic industrial Eastern port city. Then the Flyers were brought to our town and totally won us all over, I like to think the early 70's Broad Street Bullies were the inspiration for this.
I met the three of them back in the 90s when they were doing a bar tour. Really nice and friendly guys. I still have the autographed picture that they were handing out to everyone.
I love the fact they all did βName of the father son holy spirtβ before they went to go destroy the entire other team πππππ
So glad this showed up in my feed...I'm from Broome County and grew up rooting for the Broome Dusters. I remember this so well and how they used some of our players #12 of the Broome Blades is Frank Hamill of the Dusters (he wore #7 for us). He also visited me when I was in the hospital for surgery (I was 12, he was dating one of nurses on the Pediatric unit). Really really made my day today...
Paul Newman's claim of 'self defence' gets me every time!
I love when he trips the goalie he skates away smiling innocently
:40 The look on Paul Newman's face is priceless! It's like he just saw three angels descend from heaven to play hockey.
Growing up in the 70s/80s in a middle-sized northern town with a minor league hockey team, this brings back memories! Great times cheering on the team, the bone-crushing checks, the goals, and the fights!
This truly is laugh out loud material. If I need cheering up or a break, I go to this clip.
