Sugar cult was great and would love a reunion.
AMAZING band. So underrated. When I was in middle school, I literally played my Start Static CD until it wouldn’t play anymore. I think Palm Trees & Powerlines is a perfect record. And I honestly think Out Of Phase may be my favorite song of their’s. I know they’ve been asked to do When We Were Young multiple times and turned it down but I desperately hope one day they’ll cave.
Saw them in 2004 with MXPX & Billy Talent. They were fantastic, and I still listen to them today
Bouncing off the walls was played non-stop on my car CD player.
Absolutely love the organization of info on your videos. Feels like a book ❤
Van Wilder and Sugarcult go hand in hand, and I was absolutely obsessed with both for a couple of years in early 2k While Van Wilder is never really forgotten, Sugarcult disappears from my brain until they pop back up, and I'm like 'oooohhhh fk yeah!' Thanks for another 'ooooohhh fk yeah!' moment 😂😂
❤this band so much. Daddy’s little defect had the BEST riffs
Marko is still super personable to this day! He interacts with us (the fans) on social all the time. He is such a fan of music himself he still understands what it’s like to be in our shoes. I will support until I can’t anymore lol. Big props to those guys. Just hope they know how truly loved they and their music are.
I met one of the guys from Sugarcult at a Superdrag show with Matthew as an opener in Cincinnati before Start Static was released. He gave me some stickers and told me about his band releasing and album, seemed super nice - I really ended up enjoying Start Static once it was released.
I have so many incredible memories of this band! I discovered them at Warped Tour, where they were on a free sampler I received. I met them and they were so cool! Then they came to my radio station's music festival, Buzzfest, and I have photos just hanging out with them. They were so kind to their fans. They literally just walked around talking and taking photos with us. I was so thrilled for them when they started to get some mainstream plays but then they faded away and it was so undeserved. I miss them!
Great tribute to one of the best pop-punk bands of the 2000’s nice job dude 💯
Cool vid! Thanks for featuring a clip from my old live webTV show at the 14:20 mark!
Had a burned copy of Start Static my buddy gave me, and I listened to it sooooo many times! Such a great one!
The #1 band I always wanted to see! The first 2 albums were 🔥🔥🔥. Need them back!!!!
Thanks for the great videos and band stories. Really enjoy them. Pop punk & Emo are my favourite music, but i must admit that i have not listened a lot to Sugarcult (only top singles like Memory). Really enjoyed learning more about their history. Would love to see videos on Modern Baseball, Motion City Soundtrack +many more in the future.
Great video. Sugarcult is an absolute favorite band for my family. Saw them twice in concert around the Lights Out era. Great guys. Marko 72 was always the champion of the band. Always personable and loves to hear positive things about the band you can tell he loved being in. Marko lost his home in the LA fires some months back and with it a lot music memobillia and Sugarcult treasure lost. Horrible indeed. Sugarcult fans are diehard and we all wish they would tour again or drop some new music or b-sides.
I was obsessed with Pretty Girl
one of my favorite bands of that time!
Never heard of Sugarcult until I saw them in Tokyo in 2003, a festival slot between Alkaline Trio and AFI. It was a college party-like set, high energy, positive, fun. I still listen to Start Static today, Saying Goodbye probably my fav track. It's a good way to call it a day for the band -- no contrived social media announcements, messy scuffles or botched reunions. Just move on, and do a show as and when. F the labels, the business, the charts. Music is in the heart of the creator despite whatever outside circumstance.
