Absolutely! Just saying, "I'm sorry," is a cop-out.
A lot more essay writing needs to be done in schools. Too few people have the skills to think nowadays.
Meanwhile when my aunt tells my cousin to apologize he just runs up to me, says "apologize" and then goes back to what he was doin.
Until you realize that it was, in fact, only rehearsing to hit the right tone and words and the actual full understanding of why people were wronged develops later. While theory of mind is usually learned before then, the full logical reasoning ability and emotional intelligence develops later and sitting alone in your room writing essays is... It's not emotional connection. It's a completely intellectualized approach that has the potential to do a lot of other damage. People may try, few find good approaches to do what should be done
this sounds like all kinda aids useful punishment if it meant you didn't do whatever you did again. on the plus side they did teach their kids to be emotionally manipulative. since the judgement of good or bad was based off of the feelings of the parents and not the one who was wronged. and who takes til college to figure out how basic apologies.
Your parents were geniuses
Alot of people dont deserve an apology
No such thing as emotional intelligence, completely made up. There is no way to quantify such things and impossible to measure. To take a step back and analyze things and how your actions affected another is the exact opposite to emotional, it is logical and rational.
So this intelligence how is it measures?
Okay but now apologies will be extremely forced and fake
So you didn't learn not to eat other people's food?
People who apologize just look weak. Don't be someone who needs to apologize for anything other than bumping into someone...
