"Faker scales with pressure" Truly not something that can be taught. Some people are just born with it
Translated comment from a Chinese caster: Younger players might get the wrong impression, that faker is some kind of unimaginably consistent immortal legend. If you watch him, you will see that is not true. Faker has truly gotten old. He misses CS, misses skills, and gets caught out. And yet. Truly great players, at moments of their choosing, will create their own destiny.
It's kinda mental to me that one player remains on top of a pro e-sports scene for over a decade. In any e-sport scene most veterans are replaced by new young playere cause they have quicker reaction time and such but the fact that Faker is on top of the world in LoL e-sports for over a decade just shows what a player he is.
Keria praised the GOAT in his stream after worlds and said : Faker was playing so good since the beginning of the swiss stage, but after that solo kill on ziggs his movements completely changed, i sensed something great is incoming and when i saw him stealing rakan's ult, i also immediately flash ulted, we didnt even talk about it.
Faker has so much respect for his opponents. There is a clip, that the cameraman wanted him to give a thumbs down after he won a Tournament round, but he refused.
Faker and teammates were not surprised that he was Mvp because Zeus as he was behind the stage asked who the Mvp was and once he entered, convinced that they had already announced it, he congratulated Faker
I love how each region has a champion that Faker manages to give PTSD to their playerbase. LCK - Zed 2013 LEC - Ryze 2015 LCS/LTA - Ahri -2013 Worlds LPL - Galio 2017
Why Faker is able to step up is absolutely astonishing, Faker has this playstyle of high risk high reward playmaking when they are behind, or need someone to open up the game. Sure, there are many times, especially during regular seasons where he is struggling and seem like hes inting, but despite of all of that, he never shy away from trying to make a play for the team. And this mental fortitude is the difference between a great player at worlds, and a living legend.
I was out of town, doing a bit of visiting. I heard my friend KkOma had finally taken the time to settle down in the countryside. Rightfully so, after what he’d been through, with all the pent-up stress and frustration built up over the years of coaching the most successful KR team in League. “How have things been buddy?” I asked, as I saw my man step out of the house upon hearing my car come in the drive-through. “All good, life’s been a lot more chill, now that I’ve retired,” he answered. “Hey, wanna check out my animals out back? I’ve taken up farming as a hobby with my free time,” as he motioned over to the back gate. We headed out and he started introducing me to some of the livestock, mentioning how he had named them after his players, as the unhinged animals they were. Just then, I was hit by an unbearable stench. With my eyes watering uncontrollably, I questioned through gritted teeth, “What in the hell is that smell?” He looked over knowingly and said: "Ah. Faker? The goat is never washed.”
what do you MEAN 70% win rate in worlds. you're not allowed to do that
it's so crazy like you can't even fault BLG for the last 2 plays of game 5 - they had numbers advantages BOTH times
It's baffling to me that T1 just makes every Worlds they go to better than the last. I swear nothing could beat 2022 finals than 2023 happened. THEN 2024 happened. Cinema at it's finest.
i was supporting T1 up until the finals (just felt like i liked the BLG storyline more so i rooted for them instead) by game 3 i thought that it was finally time for the demon king to be struck down, but apparently there was a second phase to the boss fight, those game 4 and 5 took me back 2015-2016 faker era, it was completely unbelievable but couldn't even be mad, i was witnessing absolute cinema the broadcast ended around 3am my time and i couldn't even sleep afterwards, what an experience
This was my first Worlds ever. I started watching during semi-finales and watched all of them. I was shouting, jumping and slapping my own hand and shouting korean names i cant even pronounce like GUMAYUSHI GOOO in my native language. It was absolutely amazing and now i know why this sport is so watched in the world. Faker = goat
13:27 Faker locked in 13:29 Faker forget to buy item xD
One day, someone will adapt Lol history into an anime revolving around Faker, and the anime will only get better as time progresses. Imagine all the storylines: Faker vs LPL, Faker vs SSG/GenG, Faker vs Ruler, 2022 heartbreak, final Bo5 curse, the 2017-2020 drought
That e dodge on j4 was insane, didn’t catch that until now.
This was my first in-person Worlds experience and oh my god it was made so magical by both teams, but especially those ground-breaking plays by T1. It made for an event I'll never forget :')
I know Keria's ult was clutch but I still remember my excitement seeing Faker and Zeus willingly take a 2 vs 4, was so hype.
