As a Chemical Engineer who was woefully unprepared for the complexities of Engineering College, I can tell you without a doubt, you can make your college experience SO MUCH MORE enjoyable because of the correct preparation! It all STARTS with high school! If you're a cruiser, a person who just floats through classes without much effort, you are in for a shock! First of all, beg, steal, or borrow every math, physics, chemistry and computer science class available in high school. While drafting is highly touted as THE WAY into Engineering, it isn't that important but nice to have 1-2 classes! You need to be challenged in high school because that will carry over into your college classes! Calculus is absolutely essential so make sure to take that and regular and A.P. Physics are really essential! Many of these classes weed out the real from the casual students who are just wasting time and money! Never miss class and try to get help with homework such as doing it together or with fellow students but you WILL TEST ALONE! Try to get summer jobs like an intership in your field of choice to better acclimate yourself to the field and make sure it's really for you! Many foreign students show up with EXCELLENT math and study skillls but they struggle with the language, but they always get better! PARTY PEOPLE, GET ANOTHER MAJOR! This is why liberal arts students have fun.......but rarely get decent jobs!
This is one of the most wholesome podcasts I have watched
I love your channel and I'm recently graduated engineer .
This was so cool! The information, the accessibility, your characters coming through! Thoroughly enjoyed this.
Awesome podacast!
I'm in mechanical engineering technology, but I am about to jump to physics. I am a student at the University of Central Missouri and I feel like the school is heading in the wrong direction. They are cutting funds for our program, firing professors, and not even trying to grow the program. My goal has always been to become a professional engineer. You can take the PE with a degree in any STEM in select states, or by approval from your state board. I chose this path because I like to prove people wrong. I have worked in manufacturing and had fun, now I am at black and veatch until I graduate. I have 1 year left and am contemplating finishing what i started and transferring to KU for physics, or just starting right now. I have been lied to by faculty telling me i can get the jobs i want with this degree, but it just is not the case. I have talked to professionals and they say that your application will be thrown out if you are not from an ABET credited institution. Luckily i have had a great experience from my math and physics professors and am encouraged tto make this change. What do other people think of my position? What would you do? I will also mention another physics professor on youtube named professor Hafner from Rice University. He is a physics professor that cares about the schools reputation and makes amazing demonstrations. I'd also like to say, when someone tells you something is not possible, think about where they are coming from. Dig deeper and see why they may be right or wrong. I have found opportunities where nobody even thinks to look. As an example, I got enrolled into a physics program that I am the only student in. I did this by working past the people that told me no and going straight to the head of the physics department. To get to the point, never just settle with a no.
Epic conversation! some brilliant advice and insights from both...
Nice to see a Brazilian here. I'm a agriculture engineering student in Brazil. It would be nice an episode with a agriculture engineer. The field is very multidisciplinary.
Really helpful video, thank you both
Good evening!
Same!! I was struggling with English since isn't my first language ππππ however it will be fine if you continue to do so ππ
This video help me so much
This is golden nuggets of pearly wisdom that wouldn't be taught in any college class! I would like to know what route did Rafael take to pursue his engineering degree- straight 4 year or 2+2 programme? Is there a possibility that you can do a video on good engineering schools especially for international students based on cost, robustness of programme( i.e programmes that employers eagerly endorsed) amongst other important criteria? Thanks and keep it up Math Sorcerer. Respect from Guyana.
How did you become so articulate and never stumble on youre words?
Dear math sorcerer I hope you re doing well Please can you make a video on engineering mathematics at college level.
Math Sorcerer would you bring a chemical engineer to the channel? Thank you to motivate my study and help to improve my english jaja greetings from Chileπ¨π±
Hello, I'm working on my degree in physics and pre engineering for my bachelor's and my transfer my credits to MIT, uc Berkeley, Harvard and nyu
What if I have to work while in school? Does anyone know students who worked during school?
Woaah is this rafael from the differential classesπ
