I'm less than 2 weeks out from running my 1st Boston marathon and this is exactly what I needed to hear! Thank you Stephen!
I did a cycling yesterday and felt crappy 2 days before even losing sleep. Creating stressful situations ahead of time is advice I will continue to follow. Excellent video
I needed this video. I also ran in the SEAA Relays on Sunday & that signalled the start of my taper for Manchester Marathon in less than 2 weeks. Woke up yesterday feeling like absolute death and have been worried that all my hard training over the last few months has gone to waste as Iβve had to take a few days off to rest and shake off this illness. That mindset is going to do me no favours, I need to remind myself that all my hard work will pay off on the 16th and I will get the sub 2:40 I deserve. Thanks Stephen!
Just wanted to say thank you Stephen for always going out of your way to help us in so many different ways!!!
Thanks SO much Stephen!! 11 days out from my 1st HM, & to be honest, this buildup has felt so different to races in the past. I definitely feel much more prepared, & u have played a big part in that! Iβm glad a few of your suggestions I already use. For me on race day itβs a particular song I listen to in my warmup that snaps me into character/gets my armour on. Works for me!!
Great video! I'm 18 days away from the Krakow marathon. I'm prepared like never before. I trust my coach 100%. I haven't missed a workout in the last 6 months. My motivation is high and I'm confident! I plan to stay with the pacers until 30km and then start speeding up if I feel well.
This video is exactly what I needed, thank you! I don't have a race but I do have an interview tomorrow, and these tips are very transferable to other important situations such as interviews.
Hi from Zimbabwe Stephen, just tapering for 56k Two Oceans in Cape Town, which is on the 15th April. As a 68 year old women this video has just come at the right time this is my 7th time doing it but every year the nerves do get the better of me so will take all this on board. Thank you.
Brilliant, useful, insightful video! Thanks a lot for posting.
Among all videos I have watched out there, including yours, this one is the video that should be pinned at the highest top! Being a week away from Manchester Marathon, it could not have a better time to watch this. Thanks, Stephen
Excellent tips man, thanks!! Great channel
For me, in the distant past when I did race, the nerves (a sickening sensation of weakness and total unpreparedness) were essential to a good performance. Never ran well when I felt fit and confident in the warmup and earlier in the day. Nerves were worse when i was very fit and knew I was ready to run fast and win the race. It probably came down to a fear of throwing the race away by making a stupid error - getting boxed in. missing the final sprint due to lack of concentration etc - or simply not being willing to hurt enough on the day. These nerves are what distinguished the race from even the most severe training and enabled that 1% extra to come out.
Love your content Stephen. I watched nearly all your videos over the past month or two as I was preparing for Brighton marathon last weekend. Using your advice I smashed my goal for getting sub three and ran a 2:54 (which was 36 minutes faster than my first marathon more than 17 years ago). Thanks again.
Thank you Stephen! Very useful tips for beginners like me. Have a nice day! π
What a video bang at the right time for me....about to start taper and am start to freak out lol
Excellent video Stephen, Iβve got a half marathon on the 16th of April, this video came at the right time, Iβll be working on changing my radio to a positive fun song as possible, cheers π£πππ½ββοΈπΏππΌπ₯³
