@mikebowen-fq9bc

I believe this player does support gapless playback, but only if you play a disc from the beginning and don't skip tracks.

@whatprogress

8:47 Apparently this unit supports gapless playback only when the disc is allowed to play through from beginning to end. Skipping forward or backward disables gapless playback.

I’ve had my eye on this player, thanks for reviewing it!

@TheAndy1268

Nice device. Just a remark on gapless playback: It DOES have that. Load the CD and play it without skipping a track. Just load the disc and press play. Then it will play gapless.

@audiofool4u

You must play a cd from the beginning without any skipping or fast forwarding to get gapless playback.

@pedrofernandez8729

It does have gapless playback if you don't mess with the buttons and just let it play thru.

@alexnicholas5079

Great little player, the weight inspires confidence. compares well with high end Sony and Marantz players of yesteryear, the quoted S/N is superior to those award winning players thanks to its capable DAC, I suspect the bass is better and the top end is crisp. The PSU is not a problem, even modest Samsung bricks are adequate with the advantage that any possible extraneous electrical interference is isolated, compared with an on board supply. The built in headphone amp impresses, delivering ear bleeding levels even into my not particularly sensitive Beyer DT770 Pro 80. Gapless playback not a problem if you play disc all the way through. I now listen to CDs every day, something I haven't done in years.

@paulchampion6783

I have seen a comment on Amazon UK regarding gapless playback that providing you let the cd play right through from the start without skipping tracks that gapless play does work. i have purchased this player and await its arrival soon. i will test this out soon as I have Jean Michel Jarre cds which are better without gaps.

@tns5044

Will make a nice mini setup with a Class D amp.

@russputin6294

Not including a power supply means there's a scale of economy on production as there's no need to repack for different countries mains voltages or plug configurations and saves on worldwide carriage / packaging costs too.. I like the way there's an inbuilt upgrade path here, too; start off with a basic wall wart then, when funds allow, replace it (nothing wasted; the original can be used as a 'phone charger or whatever) with a regulated, high current power supply and, finally, an external DAC. No waste and nothing to sell off or trade in

@SkiBumMSP

That is how my setup is. I am using a CD player as a transport going into an external DAC. The DAC I am using is the Eversolo DMP-A6 Master Edition DAC/streamer. I've seen other videos that reviewed this unit, and indeed, it does get good reviews. As to what my "favorite" CD player is? I don't really have a "favorite", but this Pioneer Elite DV-79AVi player that I have is quite the unit, even though it is now nearly 20 years old. It can play CD, DVD, DVD-Audio, and SACD. In 2006, it was a $1,000 unit when brand new.

@renog7038

You make this sound very tempting! I’d love to have a smaller CD player. It would fit my space better than what I have now (a rather large vintage Philips 5-disc changer). I really enjoyed your review for this and the Fiio CD player. I would love if you’d consider reviewing either of the two models of the Moondrop Discdream. The one thing with the player in this video is I really don’t like slot-in cd players, but it sounds like it works very well for a shockingly low price. I’ll add it to my list of potential buys! Thanks for the review, I’ve grown to really trust your judgements.

@ronaldweed6103

Sounds great with my headphones. I like it. I have a cd player by Marantz. I have to confess this sounds GREAT!!!

@IvanJohnsonMedia

Brutalist design, but offset by the whimsical graphic - which I sort of like!

@calvinnapier9977

I want to tell you about a amazing radio 📻 I just got it's the Sangean WR-12 hoping you'll do a review on it. I was looking for something that had a retro look to it while still sounding good for my 50's kitchen diner. After a lot of looking I decided on the Sangean WR-12 radio and then I got a cd player it's the SAST 1984 from Ebay and hooked it using a Magomi Gold aux cable. The CD player looks great sitting on the radio. I know good sound from bad and I'm blowed away by the sound coming from this small little radio for $150. When listening to both radio and cd I just keep looking at it wondering how this big high quality with details sound is coming from something so small. I got the radio from Amazon. There is no serious reviews on YouTube about this hope you'll do one. It's also AM/FM with a real wood case. 😊

@ralphreinhardt6020

Bummer about the power " brick ". Other than that, it seems decent enough.

@TheFrugalAudiophile

I had that D242 disc man when I was a teenager. I loved that thing! Unfortunately, it died after a couple years of use, but I think I used it pretty hard.

@vulcangunner58

I got one of these 2 weeks ago from Apos. Good solid unit, but goofy graphics on the front panel. I'm using mine as a transport for a desk-top system. The included remote works well, but there are some "extra" useless buttons. Sounds good and works well, I bought this for $92 about 6 weeks ago....Rode a slow-boat from China!

@richmorrison8194

That little puppy is making the rounds on YouTube! I also had a Sony D-121. No shock protection, so I got out the p-touch and labelled it "Ol' Skippy."

I like old timey music too, may I suggest to you - The New Wonders - Steppin' Out. 2024 Turtle Bay Records.

@derekgoss

Almost every discman/portable/ battery or plug in that I have ever had died in two stages. First battery powering stops working, then plug in. The latest one goes into pause mode for no reason after playing a few seconds. Look forward to seeing a video if you revive the three you talked about here, so I can try whatever works, if anything works.

@patester2425

Kinda sucks that it doesn't do gapless playback. Would be a major drawback especially with live or some albums like Pink Floyd, etc.. Seems to be the case for most cd players made in China nowadays. Hope that changes down the road.
