As illegal as it is, I would actually buy this just because of how time consuming and tedious it is to download and unzip and move around all those ISOs
I don't give a slightest fuck it's illegal. That thing's absolutely beautiful. Videogame preservation at its finest.
Iām more impressed by how brazenly illegal this is being sold in the US on Amazon š.
I'd say it is kinda worth it as a consistent collection of roms and matching assists takes a long time to build up. The hardest thing I find with retro gaming is finding and downloading all the content. It can be done for free of course but if you have the money, this is a very simple way to get an awesome archive of games and associated assets.
This is super awesome and would be a great gift for soooo many different people. A beautiful method of vintage Game Preservation as well! phatti thanx to the company/team/person who makes these hard drives <3
The fact this exists and has its own UI is insane
Man this is so cool to see. I have always wanted to do something like this but kinda gave up part of the way through. Its super time consuming to make a library like this. My teacher in HS said that his collection took several years to make in his spare time. It was not even half of this!
hey, i remember this channel from all the way back when i was a young kid. you came to the local starbucks in my area and let my brother and i play on the tabletop arcade machine. you made a video about it if i'm remembering correctly; i was the kid in the red shirt. i was in 4th grade then, now going into 11th. good to see you're still uploading and enjoying your hobbies.
This is one of those "100,000 Games In One Package!!!" boxes you used to see in Walmart, only this time it's actually real lmao.
the nerd in me really wants one. the security engineer in me is screaming botnet bait
i would consider getting this when it comes back in stock, just for the fact i dont have to download all of these isos . seems like good value that can be played easily.
this is awesome i always wanted something that have all the retro games on it, its perfect to relive my childhood memories
Man, watching you scroll through all these games gave me so much joy. I absolutely gotta get one of these!
Someone on the Amazon reviews said there were lots of viruses hidden within the games on this device. And that wouldn't surprise me, since the creators likely just downloaded the roms off any website they could find them on, rather than using safe, legit rom sharing servers like the one that is spelt "Zimm's Lair" except you swap the "Z" for a "V".
Whats great about this is that you can discover games that you never even heard of. Usually when you search for Roms you just download what you specifically look for. Here the barrier of entry to just try random stuff is so low!
Something like this is actually quite popular in 3rd world country where brand new games are almost 1/3 of the average monthly salary, hence piracy. But the ones actually sold here are mostly hard disks filled with AAA games for people who wanted to play the games but their internet is too slow to download it
If they want to do this legit, you need a least 16TB. WAY too many titles will be missing with 5.
I have begun going down the rabbit hole of emulation this week, and am now learning of Launchbox. You mention in this video that there are better options that exist, but I can't find out where the pre-made Launchbox builds may live. If a redump better than this isn't readily available, is the best option likely to just purchase a drive like this?
AWESOME thanks - LOVE how you can see all the games on screen minimal scrolling... Other consoles you have to scroll one game at a time.. which sux
