This is just amazing. Keep up the great work Mr.Musk. You and your companys are the future!
There's no knowing where we're going. But the rowers keep on rowing... and they surely aren't showing ANY SIGNS OF SLOWING
What exactly were they testing? It didn't seem like a vacuum tube nor drove the vehicle particulary fast...?
this is obviously not a real prototype of the hyperloop but it was a winner of a competition where universities got to build what they could with what resources they had.
Some people here seem to think this is some 'official' prototype pod for the hyperloop, which is quite ludicrous. The title clearly contains 'pod competition', this was some competition between universities hosted by SpaceX at their test track. This was meant as stimuli for students to work on likewise stuff, not as some early prototype for the final product lol.
Just a question to those questioning the safety of the system that has puzzled me: Wouldn't the use of gates solve the issue of compromised sections in the face of a breach or terrorist attack? In the pressurized gas pipes that we use 24/7 to transport gas across distances, companies are able to detect and instantly shut off sections of pipe that are leaking by detecting pressure drops using automated systems. If a system in the hyperloop is designed to accurately pinpoint the location of pressure decrease and calculate the locations of each pod to account for stopping distance, safety could be guaranteed to the level of a terrorist only being able to target 1 train at the maximum which makes it as safe as a regular train.
Good morning and welcome to the Black Mesa Transit System. This automated train is provided for the security and convenience of the Black Mesa Research Facility personnel.
That looked kinda slow to be honest
I'm glad to see progress on this front. While Space is a great place to be able to expand, we will need transportation solutions here at home in the meantime. Thanks, Elon Musk!
we had a invention in the 1800s that could work with this shit. for that the pipe dosnt even need to be completly empty and we dont worry about presure on idle.
And this is why i subscribed! to see new technologies in the making!
Looks so cool :)
No offence to the guys working on it, but this looks silly atm. Isn't this just a cart in a metal tube?
Musk be accelerating things sideways as well as upwards into space
woah that was a quick and sudden stop without shakiness, nice!
Anytime spaceX shows up in my sub box its an immidiate click
hooray for SpaceX for the Hyperloop and the future of transportation
That brake was intense.
Awesome!
