Oracle also wanted to make APIs copyrightable which would destroy the entire software industry in an endless litigation war. They're evil
Let's be real, a company called 'oracle' was already ominous.
Oracle might track you more than Zuck could ever imagine but don't let that distract you from the fact that "3 billion devices run Java".
Fine should be issued on a “per person effected basis” so for instance £100 per person who’s data has been collected. That’s how you affect massive companies and get them to comply.
“There’s no more privacy! Get over it!” - Larry Ellison (he actually said that)
Now I understand why people say "Oracle is pure evil". Just the fact that the EU let Oracle acquire Sun Microsystems back in 2010, killing Solaris (one of the last derivatives of UNIX System V) and OpenSolaris, the SPARC architecture and OpenOffice was enough for me to hate that company. And Oracle bought Sun because they bought MySQL, a leader in SQL databases, and Java and VirtualBox was another big deal for them. Now this is so disturbing I can't ignore it, nowadays seems that will be very hard to "escape the botnet", internet has become so big of a cesspool that we're almost helpless; time to migrate to other platforms with new protocols?
And I was worried about Tencent gathering info on U.S. citizens. 64% Of people are tracked by oracle. That's pretty impressive.
I just tried to request and download all of my user data from Oracle, and guess what: The form you need to fill out is offline. Good job guys!
Meta tracks you even if you don't use their apps. They have shadow profiles on everyone. if one of your family members or friends have Facebook, that means Meta has a profile on you that includes your phone number, name and possibly also photos of you. It also gives them the theoretical ability to track your devices even if you don't use their apps as some phones come with preinstalled software that is trackable by Meta.
I have been telling people for a LOOOONG time these fines are nothing but a slap on the wrist for bigger companies
This kind of explains an oddity I experienced a few years ago: I got Gran Turismo Sport for Christmas, it was the first time I played any game that used real car brands, and I started getting ads specifically for the car brand I had been driving in spite of never even googling anything about GT Sport. I still think about that experience.
Oracle when they advertise how many people they've hacked:
someone here suggested building an ai noise data generator. instread of hiding our data we collectively make so much noise we flood thier analytics with garbage. making it expensive for the man to see signal from noise.kinda like placing a machine speaking random words into a spy microphone.
I'm not much of a political guy, but I'm glad that you're one of the few that are able to expose both the faults of the GOP and the DNC alike.
Missed Opportunity. You should have said "just because this company isn't on your radar doesn't mean you aren't on theirs."
Just when you thought you couldn't hate oracle any more than you already did...
You know it really makes sense why Oracle wanted to buy tiktok now, considering their history.
It is impossible not to be tracked and identified by voice or image, just as it is impossible to avoid the creation of a tree of relationships and your locations, even if you have no google account, etc. and no smartphone. Your relative has it, your friend has it, the microphone is always on, you appear in some photo, even if it is in the background, your biometrics are done, your voice is recorded, a hash is created over you and the data starts to be stored over this hash. Where you have been, voice, age what you speak, what you consume, potential risks, relationships, detection of neurological diseases by voice etc. But everything has a cute face and makes your life easier.
Several years ago, I was presented with the Oracle logo as a captcha. The instructions said "type the first word or phrase that you associate with this logo" I typed "Patent Troll" and the captcha accepted it.
