Great vid man. The whole negativity spread has genuinely made me rethink about starting a game/gamemode previously even though I see myself liking that particular game, once I started ignoring the "reviews" and started trying thing hands on I discovered some amazing gems.
What I've learned is to figure out what I enjoy the most vs worrying about what other people enjoy the most. Everyone is different and has different tastes when It comes to what games they enjoy to play. Some of my favorite games to play are other people's most hated games like Starfox Adventures and Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess. I also hear a lot of people hate Wind Waker but I always enjoy that game too whenever I play it and I'm perfectly fine with the cartoony art style. Speaking of that style I also really enjoy the 2 Nintendo DS Zelda games that a lot of people once again hate. I really don't enjoy modern gaming though, I prefer retro or indie games. I want my video game to look and feel like a video game vs having ultra realistic AAA graphics with poor gameplay/story. Not saying all modern games are bad but a lot of them turn out to be slop or rushed unfinished products vs retro games where they actually had to release a finished product on day 1. Also retro/indie don't have as many dlc/micro transactions. The only console I would ever consider getting is whatever Nintendo is putting out because whatever Xbox/Playstation is doing will most likely end up on PC eventually. Nintendo is the only one attempting to really keep games exclusive but then again I feel like that's hurting them more because it just makes people turn to piracy since they can't easily purchase their games legally on Steam or Epic Games or in a standalone Nintendo Launcher.
Gaming isnt fun anymore. Plays either always the same game in their genre, often COD, Fifa, 2k stuff. Dudebro who is stuck in the past and has too much nostalgia for old games while neglecting good new games. In general, doesn't try new and different games from other genres. Repeats the same comments and bad examples that everyone does while ignoring million other good and fun games even in the triple a genre that they always complain about. Is a multiplayer grinder who doesn't play singleplayer games but complains about both. Every essay video, social media etc. and content piece repeats the same arguments over and over, points out the usual corporate problems and the same 5 games claiming as if this is the norm.
ngl underrated channel hope you'll pop soon
Everything you say is what I felt for months now. People just like being in negative echo chambers like "Nintendo bad company, pirating good!"
Generally I do think what you describe is a huge problem especially in gaming, but also in all other areas of life. We Germans are actually quite known for always pointing out flaws instead of being able to just appreciate something. However I think there has started to be a wave like 2-3 years where people started saying 'you can still play 98% of all the old games, we actually live in a better gaming world every day. People are sad because not every new Triple A Game is better than everything before, but nobody is stopping you from playing older games'. We currently even see it with Riot, and I found it really strange you did not mention them. Hating on Riot was like a requirement to be one of the good/cool guys in the League Sphere, but with Arcane, last years Worlds, the new Swarm Mode/Game people started to realize: Riot really puts a ton of effort into their products and have their ears close to the community. You rarely see Riot patting themselves on the back, I mean if they do it becomes an instant meme, see '200 years'. But I do think minus the female employee scandal and the ownership of Tencent, Riot is the gaming Company we always wanted.
Smart Title regarding the content
Nice vid bro
There was simply more games that weren't indie being made 20 years ago. Intelligence Systems made 6 really good GBA games and the GBA got replaced with the DS after a mere 3 years.
