lived in a block with two of these years ago, my fav "pastime" was dropping shopping receipts etc through the gap as we went up... the "newer" models have a few photocells close to the door to stop the car in case of "contact", but how-safe-can-they-be?

I stayed in a hotel in Amsterdam they had a lift exactly the same.
