People always say that waifus make the most money but forgets that it's mostly female fans who are active in promoting and showing their love for their husbandoes in social media like everytime their fave male character has a birthday women spend a lot just to put their faces on a billboard, have cafe themed parties, write fanfiction and those things are like a free promotion for the game, women may spend less when it comes to pulling but they are dedicated when it comes to things outside of the game

The worst part of the lack of male characters is how fcked the story has become bc of that. It flows like a generic isekai harem anime rn : mc meets a girl > flirts > saves the girl from danger > have a romantic cutscene at the end.

Also, I got 4 things to add on to the whole "Men dont sell" parasitic mindset: 1. For almost a year, the top selling gacha games have been HSR, LADs, and Naruto Mobile, gachas with fully, mostly or a good amount of men. Naruto Mobile in last month's chart beat both WuWa and Genshin sitting at 23 mil, by 35 mil, which is a big number, while LADs is around 60 mil and HSR at 100 mil. This is a new low for Genshin, as it comes right after the everhyped Xilonen banner that everbody wanted, not rven making 25 mil, while WuWa having banners of 2 big heavy hitters, being Cantarella banner and Shorekeeper rerun (Shorekeeper best girl tho), and still not making above 30 mil, despite all the heavy promotion Cantarella got Theres a reason why HSR can make around a 100 mil per month, despite global passives, despite power creeps, despite cheap banner patterns and everything else. heres a reason why Naruto Mobile, despite being a mere 2D mobile gacha, can make more than and compete with big budget 3D gachas like Genshin and WuWa Theres a BIG reason why LADs, despite having 0 waifus, can stay ahead of the curve so much The reason in all these games should be obvious 2. The reason why "Men dont sell" is because they have MORE THAN ENOUGH time to GET THEM with how rarely they release. They have ample time to save their gacha currencies to practically C6/S6/E5R1 their characters as long as they just play 10 to 20 mins daily. Gacha devs shoot their male characters in the foot before they can even attempt to sell. To, really REALLY make them sell, Kuro NEEDS to start releasing them MORE, EVEN if they sell less initially. Them selling less at 1st IS a part of the plan. The plan is to get all the "hoarders" spending on the men so that they inevitably dry out and now actually having to SPEND for real to get the characters they want, and get them on the same playing field as the waifu pullers. This is only for the average folks cuz whales and leviathans will pull for anybody, but money from the average people, no matter how small compared to the big spenders, adds up in the long run 3. Cool and badass men sell, especially ANIME men. Some of the most popular characters from the anime media are guys like Dante, Goku, Luffy, Ichigo, Naruto, Rengoku, Gojo, Sasuke, Vegeta, Broly, Gogeta, Vegito, Sukuna, Muzan, Inuyasha, Sesshomaru, Vergil, Sephiroth, Cloud, Madara, Eren, and the list goes on. All men, and thats just me naming them from the top of my head. Theres way, WAY more. None of these characters would sell if men had no appeal to begin with Combine cool and badass anime men + the lucrative gacha system = Just waiting for money to be printed 4. Even as male lovers we need to STOP telling others that "Men dont sell" and spreading it around like wild fire. Its contagious, a negative mindset and really damages the state of the male characters more than they realize. If everybody thinks like that, talks like that, and if the devs see that, y'all are fueling them to make even LESSER men than they already are making. Y'all are contributing to us not getting more men without y'all even realizing it Hopefully all that clears up some very crucial things, and hopefully people can copy-paste my comment and spread the word even more 🙏

Having no prominent male resonators hurts both world building and story. The world building doesn't even make sense when the manifestation of tacent mark only favors female characters and it kinda affected with the narration of the story too because we are always surrounded way too many females that it looks like a harem. I just can't take this game srsly anymore after 1.0. Even the character designs are starting fell off since zhezhi with the exception of zani, phoebe, and brant. They can make a god tier design like selena in PGR (their other game) but not wuwa and make a revealing clothes that doesn't even make sense for an apocalyptic world

I feel like husbando enjoyers wouldn't complain as much with the few male characters if they had the same level of relevance to the story and level of fan service to the female characters (look at ZZZ, the fandom is quite peaceful with the skewed gender ratio because the few male characters also have gooner bait content).

Very late, they get the hypes down, they shouldn't neglecting the importance male characters in the lore. Brant only becoming rover's uber driver, while we have phainon and mydei who's very lore-important in hsr. That's what makes hoyo fandom huge.

It is upsetting because during launch day i have high expectations that this game was gonna be fair in terms of its characters. Sadly, after the latest update and currently leaks of new characters, i doubt that fairness will not come true. I just wish kuro had market wuwa as a rpg wifu collector form the beginning. If thats was the case i wouldn't be upset on the lack of male characters.

This is my main reason for not picking up WuWa or ZZZ and sticking with Star Rail. I'm a dude that likes pretty and sexy girls but I'm also an enjoyer of badass and compelling male characters. It's honestly a shame that these games advertise a balance cast of male and female characters only to quickly drop the balance because they mistakenly believe males don't sell when that ain't the case

It's not just about the ratio, it does kinda affect the whole story/plot of the game. I mean the story itself sucks in the first place and then the characters that the MC interacts with in order to complete the missions are mostly females, which doesn't make sense. What made sense during the first threnodian fight(jinzhou) was we actually interacted with a leader, Jiyan, a male character that actually fits in the story. Then suddenly now we're just left with NIKKE characters, just gooning action.
