I was stopped and got rear-ended , my car totaled, had injuries and concussion / tbi. No consequences to the driver and no insurance to cover anything. Took me over a year of treatments to recover. Very very grateful I have recovered and it was an unexpected huge expense , unexpected replacement of my car that was in perfect condition, very difficult. I no longer enjoy driving, it is stressful now.

I really enjoy these more philosophical, thoughtful talks. Your takeaway message reminded me of Epictetus’ famous quote, “How long are you going to wait before you demand the best for yourself?”. It’s not about demanding from others, but demanding the best in our own actions, making sure they align with our authentic values and beliefs. I encourage you to read the whole quote if you haven’t read it before (it’s quite long); “the contest is now: you are at the Olympic Games, you cannot wait any longer”.

It's my opinion that the US is the worst developed nation in the world, unless you're extremely wealthy. But even if I was extremely wealthy, I believe that I would prefer to live in a civilized society and pay more taxes for that luxury. I've been living in Sweden for the past year and a half after living over 50 years in the US, most of my adult life. My parents were British and immigrated to the US in the 70s. They educated me about all of the issues that exist in the US that most US citizens don't see because they just don't know any different. Here in Sweden, people are so respectful of each other. For the most part, they live simple lives. They don't judge each other. I live in a relatively small city of about 160K people and the public transportation is solid. I have not owned a car since I've been here and I love the freedom that provides. I've used the universal healthcare to have skin cancer removed. It cost about $50 in total and the service was great! The nature is beautiful and very well taken care of. I live in the center of this city and the air is so clean because there are very few cars that actually drive in the city, most are routed around. Sweden's soceity is extreamly well structured and this could ONLY happen WITH government. I could go on and on about the issues in the US, but what good would that do. I just wish the American citizens would wake up to the fact that theirs is most certainly NOT the greatest country in the world and look to other countries that have their shit together and start modeling the US after them. Unfortunatley, I will have to return to the US due to difficulties with employment here and I'm very depressed about it. 😢
